Anyone please make me understand if there is something wrong about my petition. I checked my case status online and this is what it keep saying:

Initial Review

On April 14, 1998, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I have'nt received anything way back since. It's been 11 years since my petition was filed and we heard nothing from them. Is there something wrong with this? For how long will I get any approval from the USCIS? Please answer. Thank you.

Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.- Mark 11:24

I checked your timeline to get a clearer picture, but you haven't filled anything out.

So, I can only suggest that you call USCIS and ask them for a status update and see if they can do some research for you. Something is definately off.

Good Luck

I am confused also, because you posted this in the spousal visa forum, but your info says you have filed AOS, yet the 11 year comment makes me think a parent or sibling petitioned for a visa for you? As PP said, wee need more information about what visa you are applying for, and where you are in the process.

Sponsor must be a USC and beneficiary a sibling, maybe? If you're more clearer on what was filed and who the beneficiary is ... there is no doubt someone here who will be able to assist you more.

I don't understand the priority dates either, someone else will. Best of luck.

Anyone please make me understand if there is something wrong with my petition. My mother (US citizen) filed a petition for me last April 14, 1998. It’s been 11 years now, 2010 since my petition was filed and I heard nothing from it until now. I remained single until now, 34 to be exact because of this petition as advised. I checked my case status online today and it says:

Hi Penguin_ie,

Thank you very much for replying. You're right I posted my concern in wrong forum. I posted it back to Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America forum. I hope this time I am at the right track. By the way, My mother who is a US citizen filed the I130 petition for me last April 14, 1998. Hi, I saw your ad here on VJ and I am shocked you've been waiting 11 years!!! You haven't talked to any immigration officials about your case? Really, I do not understand the system myself. My Dad is a resident here in USA for many many years. He sent his renewing passport since August of 2008 and he has not received any notice yet. The website says the same thing as yours, case received and pending. My parents have gone to talk to some immigration official, but they do not get any straight answers as to when he'll get his passport. Maybe you can talk with the senator or governor of your state? Sometimes they do help to get through the bureocracy/media. I did get in contact with my senator/governor here in Texas and somehow they were able to get through with the immigration. Otherwise, I think it might have been a longer longer wait. There's nothing to lose, but to try. Hope this helps? You can always email me if you have any other questions? Take care and have a nice day.

I'm afraid the wait you are experiencing is normal. You are in category F1 (unmarried child of a US citizen), and they are currently processing applications from January 1994 for the Philippines, so you have over 4 more years to wait:

Well you wouldn't go by the visa bulletin. Thats only until its been approved. You will go by the processing times for USCIS.

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do <----Click here and select the office to where your file is located.

It is likely that your case is outside of the normal processing times. So you'll want to contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center to put in a request, your father/petitioner will have to do this. 1-800-375-5283

Furthermore Miredidi, if he is renewing his passport with his home country then he would have to contact his home country a immigration officer in the US wont be able to do anything. Also, if he is a US Citizen a immigration official still has no control over the case. US Passports are issued with the Department of State. He'll want to get in touch with the Department of State, NOT a immigration official. http://www.state.gov

Thanks, Good luck!

If you are an unmarried adult son, you have first preference for an immigrant visa. However, the Phillippines is grossly oversubscribed for visas--I guess there are many others in your situation. The link is here:

http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bull...letin_4611.html

As of now, it looks like the Phillippines is still processing applications from 1994 with your preference class. I would call USCIS to make certain of this, but it sounds like you may have another four years to wait before you can immigrate.
