so now people with STDs will have their visa denied or what's the point of that? I thought they only cared about AIDS/HIV ?

I've looked at the USCIS website. There's a whole page on the medical exams, including the form the civil surgeon fills in - AND what they're testing for.

Here's the thing: they test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Well, the only way you can diagnose those things is a swab down the ####### for men and a smear-test-like swab for women.

Not true anymore. They can test for gonorrhea and chlamydia with a urine sample. Don't ask me how I know this.

I would think they would at least expect you to get it treated if you had any form of STD.

Edited to say, strikes me as odd the OP has been a member for well over a year and this is what they post about, then never return.

How many people die each year of breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer because God forbid someone see the plumbing??? Not to mention the people who don't get diagnosed with and treated for STD's that become bigger problems AND are spread on to others.

An attitude like this toward medical exams cuts the survival rate of millions of people. They can turn me upside down and shake me like a christmas tree for all I care. Get over what's basically just another patch of flesh.

Human Rights issue...oh brother...

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

interesting topic...

when my hubby (then fiance) had his medical in UK, he was seen by a "Dr. Bagdhadi"...who was an egyptian gynecologist. he said the exam was the most thorough exam he's ever had. apparently, there was quite a bit of close inspection of his "bits".

in the end, it was sooo worth it, though...because it meant we could be together. <3

Here's the thing: they test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Well, the only way you can diagnose those things is a swab down the ####### for men and a smear-test-like swab for women. The guidelines on the USCIS website for the doctors also state 'to include complete disrobing'. Sorry, but if this were Europe I think the Court of Human Rights would have something to say about that.

SURELY they don't do this??????????? Anyone had the medicals? Did it involve any genital stuff? If so I'd be totally outraged and would not set foot in the US if I didn't love my husband so much!

From hearsay, it seems as if not all these things are carried out on the ground, as it were. But if you look at the USCIS website this is what the doctors are instructed to do - it's DISGUSTING!

Why you are assuming this is the only way to diagnose those things???
