I was just curious, with the explanation of meeting in person, is there an official format that I should follow in writing it up, or should I just wing it? I noticed that there are official formats for the I-129F cover page, and one for the mutual intent to marry statement, and was wondering if I need (or rather, should) to follow a certain structure when writing it up?

Thank you! :)

I wrote when and how we met and what dates I visited and explained when we decided to get married all in one paragraph and attached it to the I-129F.

Some people write one sentence, some write a paragraph, just depends on how you want to do it.!

Good luck

There is no official format. Just make certain that the information contained is easy to understand and concise with not too much lovey dovey content....concentrate on the facts. Use question 18 to describe in some detail of how you met within the required 2 year period that established the relationship. The evidence you then supply should support those details. Create a complete image in the minds eye of the adjudicator that you meet the requirements.

All the best to you on your journey.

I used the example letter on here and then attached a timeline of our relationship and added little bits into each one, like when I met his parents, when he met mine, when he proposed etc.

Good luck :)

My fiance just wrote a short paragraph explaining we met online and how it escalated from there to meeting in person. He also gave the dates/places.

Be sure to provide evidence for that. Visa stamps, e-tickets, itineraries, etc.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

I just wrote a paragraph about each visit we've had in the past two years. Including who came to visit who, how they got there, what the dates where, and a general idea of what we did (i.e. "saw the sights of the city and spent time visiting family") then, attached to that I put a seperate sheet that listed in chronological order all the visits we'd had for easy viewing.

Good luck. :)

newporchswing,

There is no 'official format' for the explanation of how you met - everyone's circumstances are going to vary from everyone else's to some degree. Wing it. That's what you suffered through high school English class to learn how to do.

There are no 'official formats' for an I-129f cover page (a nicety, perhaps, but not a necessity) or for the statement of intent. There are only examples of how someone else has winged it. One structure you might want to consider following for a petition cover page is the USCIS outline for how to assemble a petition or application package, which you can find on the USCIS web site.
