My wife and I have just recently obtained permanent resident status for her here in the states and we were hoping to bring her mom her to live with us for a while if not on a permanent basis. I have no idea if this is possible based on her current status or even if it will be a simple process. I am hoping some one here could help us get our questions answered. If anyone has any information on how to get this process started please respond. I would love to here about your experiences and tips on the best way to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help guys.

Her parents can apply for a visitor's visa. They would have to show strong ties to home.

LPR's cannot petition for parents. Once your wife becomes a citizen she can petition for her parents.

See the VJ guides for a lot of good info.

i see 2 paths:

1. tourist visa for mom - she must return to turkey.

2. have yer wife become us citizen, file I-130 petition for Mom (IR-5) .

there is other option for yer wife to file the I-130 NOW, but it will be delayed for some time, as an LPR or PR. I suggest waiting until yer wife is a USC before filing the I-130.

Good Luck !
