Interview Tomorrow....Any Last Minute Tips?

My Interview for the K-1 Visa is tomorrow at the London Embassy, and I am scared out of my mind!! I worry so much and think somethings going to go wrong, or that I might drop a document somewhere by accident.... Those kind of worries! Thank you so much for all the information given to me and my fiance for us to even get to this stage (we was going to hire a lawyer to help us with the paper work..)

To anybody else out there who have had their interview at the London Embassy, I was wondering if we have to pay the $131 in Pounds or Dollars? I have called the DOS and they told me to call the embassy's lovely premium line number to ask.

How early do you usually show up at the embassy before your interview time? 30 minutes? 1 Hour? Its been snowing in London, and I really hope public transport wont be severely affected!

For those people who have asked "can my fiance come with me to the interview" the answer is yes (for london embassy anyway) I read through my Interview letter and they do state: "If you need to bring a translator or U.S. Citizen spouse/fiance(e) to assist you during your time at the embassy, please send us their full name as soon as possible so that we may arrange their access to the embassy"

Sorry I typed so much! I am so nervous!!!

Edit: Wow..... I been sitting here answering the example interview questions, and I am so nervous that I am unable to answer them without stuttering! And it is not even the real thing!!

Good Luck to everyone else! Happy new year =)

"Don't Panic"

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

It's time to calm down and breathe. It's like what they used to tell us before a test when talking about studying the night before. If you don't know it now, you won't ever know it.

Don't be nervous, they're just looking for scammers. If you have a real relationship it will show in your body language and expressions more than the actual answers to the questions anyway (that "gleam in the eye" effect).

Like it's been said, don't panic. Breathe deeply. Play a game or do some chores or something to take your mind off things.

If you're in it for love you have nothing to be nervous about. USCIS thought you met requirements, NVC thought you met requirements, this interviewer will too.

You should come join us over on the regional UK forum here on VJ. Very good consulate specific info there. We just had our interview on the 5th and even though we were approved, it was slightly different from most of the others due to a K-2 derivative attached plus a few other things. Most, however, have had an easy go with it. My take with the consulate in London is as long as all of your paperwork is in order, requirements met, etc,. it should be much like a drive through "would you like fries with that?" ;) Some have described it similar to waiting at Argos.

Good luck!

Exactly! And take a towel with you! :D

All jesting aside, I was really nervous too. Also went multiple times through all the possible questions that

I could find on VJ.

I was asked three questions and the actual interview was over in 5 minutes.

Everything will be fine. They just want to weed out the fraudulent couples. You don't have to worry!

Woke up at 5:30am To get ready to go to the interview, It was still dark outside, streets covered in ice....... Great..... And I am carrying a huge heavy folder too.

It was a 1 Hour journey there, I was slipping on the ice, Toes are frozen, I finally got to the embassy and felt happy.... Then they told me you cannot bring any keys or phones into the building. I wish they stated that clearly on the appointment letter because I do not see it anywhere! I lined up for 10 minutes then was told to go pay to store my phone away down the road ....so I had to slip down the road to a chemist then walked back to the embassy to join an even longer line!!!

I finally got into the embassy and the wait started. I cant believe I sat around alone waiting for 4 hours.....!!! 4 HOURS!, it almost drove me crazy!

They had computer problems today, I went inside the embassy at 8am, I didnt leave until 12:30pm!! There was a genuine couple ahead of me, the fiancee (who is the petitioner) flew to england to be with her fiance for his interview, he was the one who was called to window 16 and got rejected! He walked out with a blue paper and his passport in hand, that scared me to death and I didnt want to be called to window 16 then in case there was a grumpy consular or something, but at the same time I really felt so bad for them, and was thinking I dont know what I would do if they denied me! I dont know what went wrong with their application! (I say genuine because I can see how much they are in love really). To my terror, I was called to window 16 after them, but the consular was actually a kind looking old man!

The consular asked me : How did you meet your fiance? How many times have you two visited eachother? Where does he live. He then looked down at the papers and said, I have been looking through your application while the computers were down and I can tell you that I will be issuing you a visa today. I WAS SHOCKED, didnt realize it would be that quick!! He was smiling! It was Exactly as dasaleph said, He only asked me 3 questions, It was over in 5 minutes.

:star:Thank You Visa Journey and it's members!! :star:

I hope AOS wouldnt be as nerve wrecking......

From your consulate review:

It was just bad luck that their system went down right before I was meant to be called for my interview! In total I had to wait 4.5 hours! I went into the embassy with an appointment time of 8am, I did not leave until 12:30pm!

Her experience was similar. She was probably the first on line but was the LAST one to

be called. I have a feeling that they had some kind of system to make the ones that

they already selected to approve to be interviewed LAST, just to make them sweat and

to have an easy go for the CO with the end of the day ending on a positive, optimistic

note and no screaming or shouting on the part of a disgruntled applicant.

If I was doing the interviewing I would probably want to see the problem cases first,

in order to be sharp for the difficult dialog that would ensue.

Yeah, I was so surprised too, when the CO said that everything was fine. I looked at my wife, she looked at me,

both in disbelief that that had been the entire interview. I almost immediately wanted to break out in laughter for

being so silly because of being worried and tense and grumpy beforehand.

Only people who applied for visas can emphasize with this.
