Hello,

My question is this. My Fiancee is a Ukrainian citizen. About a year and a half ago she moved to Vietnam. She lived in Hanoi for about 9 months and Ho Chi Minh City for 9 months. Does she need a police certificate from both cities? Also she lived in Odessa for most of her life, but now lives in Bilgorod-Dnistrovskyi now. Does she need a certificate from both cities or just from Odessa Oblast? To be honest, my main worry for her is Vietnam since she is not living there any more. But help on both locations will be helpful.

Thanks

Steve

For Vietnam she should contact the city halls in both Hanoi and HCMC.

Thanks for the info about Vietnam. Can she do this over the phone? What does she need to say to them or provide them with?

Thanks,

Check the reciprocity tables for each country here:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3272.html

Look the for the section titled "Police and Prison Records". This will tell you if records are available, and how to obtain them from each country. In countries that do not keep national records, like Vietnam, it would probably be a good idea to get a certificate from each district where the visa applicant was registered as a resident.

Anh Map is correct for Vietnamese citizens, but for foreigners temporarily living in Vietnam you should contact the Department of Immigration in each district and request a "Justice Record Check". You can get more information about this from the Embassy of Vietnam in the visa applicant's home country.

She needs two police records. If she lived over 6 months in a foreign country she needs one and one Ukrainian police record. It doesn't matter where she lived or lives in Ukraine, she will be given one police record.

About Vietman police record, I think she needs to call to Vietnam Embassy in Ukraine.

E-mail the Consulate at KievIV@state.gov as foreign PC's were required if you lived one year or more (not 6 mos.) unless their has been a recent change that was how it was.

YMMV
