Hello,

I passed at POE Dallas-Forth Worth with no problems on 16-Nov-09. I had a change of address so I informed that to the Immigration Officer. The next day I went to the Social Security Office to get my SSN processed. It has been 3 weeks and I have not received anything. I have read posts that said they received theirs in 10 days. When I asked the Immigration Officer when I was passing POE, he said I can expect the GC to arrive in the mail in 6 months. So what are the things that I suppose to receive, when am I suppose to get them, and how/where can I check If I haven't receive them on time?

Regards,

Marko

Be sure that the address did in fact get changed in the USCIS system. The green cards cannot be forwarded by the Postal Service. The GC would be returned to USCIS and you would have to pay the replacement fee.

Bit early yet most GC arrive in 4 -5 weeks and the SS card as well. Going into the SS office the day after arrival wouldn't have help as the information to put you into the system would have been done until about 2 weeks after you landed. You should get a Welcome to America letter any day now and the GC will arrive about 7 days later. But do as Anh map suggests and check your new address got enter properly.

I'm not as concerned about SSN card as I have a SSN number previously when I was a student in the US about 10+ years ago. After I went to the SSN office they give me a letter that serves as a temporary SSN card until the actual card is processed as arrive in the mail.

How do I contact USCIS regarding whether thay have my updated address in the record?

Your welcome to USA letter should have your case number. Or you can go with your A number from your visa - I believe it's in the second column, first number from the top - starts with 0 (doesn't have A# written before it, I think they call it registration number on visa).
