Showing up to biometrics early

So I´m scheduled for my biometrics at the Raleigh NC application center (which is actually in Durham NC) on 12/15.

However there is no way I can be there. I have to be approx 900 miles away on work and can not change my schedule.

After spending 10-15 minutes trying to find a phone number for the office online, and then another 10-15 going through the horrible mess of a phone system the USCIS uses I decided to just go ahead and make a infopass appointment regarding my application at the asc.

I have that infopass on 12/09. Am I likely to be able to complete my biometrics during that appointment? Can infopass appointments be used for that purpose?

If the ASC is not located in the same facility as the USCIS offices I doubt you will be able to get the biometrics done. The equipment is at the ASC offices - they don't do biometrics at the USCIS offices which is where InfoPasses are held.

The InfoPass appointment will probably just try to reschedule you to a time that is more convenient to you which in all probability will be later than your currently scheduled date rather than earlier. You could try arranging to go in to the Durham ASC before your date with letter in hand and explain that you are away on business on the appointed date and see if they will allow you to do them early. The feasibility of this really depends on how close you are to the Durham ASC and how much travelling you would have to do.

Good luck. Hopefully someone from Charlotte will chime in and let us know if the Durham ASC location does walk-in biometrics or not.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You might be able to do a walk-in at another ASC office closer to where you are now (900 miles away from home). Have your original biometric appointment notice with you?

Most people that I've seen here on VJ have been successful doing a early walkin at their ASC offices.

The office here in Hawaii has Wednesday for walkin days.

There's no need for doing a infopass as people doing early walkins are very common.

Won't hurt anything tho. Maybe you can get some other questions answered!

The Durham office does biometrics as we got our appt. letter for 12-16 at straight up noon at that office. So I plan on having my wife there in plenty of time to get it done.

So if I were you, I'd show up to the infopass appt and see what happens.
