Hello All,

Fiancee is South African living in UK on student visa. She finished her masters in September and her Student visa expires on January 31st.

My I-129F was accepted Oct 29th and I just found out today that they turned down my request to expedite.

She has no family left in SA and VERY limited funds as she has been a student up until 2 months ago....no home to go to, etc. She is also originally from a modest city in Freestate Province....its not like capetown or anything and is really not the safest place for a young single woman.

I'm really getting upset now that they nix'd the expedite request.

Is there anything we can do to help them realize the danger?

Seeing as she has no ties to SA everyone says they wont give her a visitor's visa to come here. Is this true?

Failure is not an option. I would die before I let anything happen to her.

Any Ideas?

SA is a big country, no need to go back to her hometown, especially as she has no family.

Chances of a Viistor Visa, probably low but higher than if she does not try.

In their opinion she isnt in danger. You just didnt understand what the circumstances must be to qualify for an expedited approval.

She will not be given a tourist visa especially after you have petitioned for a visa for her.

I dont know what definition you apply to failure but if your statement is true you should plan on moving to S A until she has her visa. That way no one has to die.

The timelines on V J are pretty accurate. You can use them to plan what you will really do in this situation. Be realistic in your approach.

Staying in the UK is not cheap.

Not being a wise azz, but what would she have done if you two hadn't met?

Also, is it possible for you to help her with finances during the K1 process? Not that this process isn't expensive enough as it is.

She would've applied to stay in the UK.

But we did meet :) so that changed.

So in order

Apply to stay in UK

Apply for a visitor visa to US

Stay in the UK anyway, but then having issues if she wants to visit parents

Visit somewhere else

Go Home
