How do you carry your x-ray when you fly?

The xray from the medical exam is rather large and we don't want to put it in the baggage as it may be damaged. How did you bring your x-ray to the Consulate? We are interviewing in Montreal.

You don't need it for the interview, but if you want to take it and you won't put it in your luggage (it won't get damaged in there) then you have no choice but to carry it.

We were told we had to bring it. In fact, the x-ray is stapled with the medical exam letter.

I don't know anyone who has brought their x-ray. It's not like there are doctor's waiting at the consulate to read the x-ray. The report from the x-ray is contained in the packet - the one on the outside is a copy for you.

However, if you want to take it, it won't get damaged in your suitcase but if you don't want to risk it, you'll have to carry it

They make shipping tubes for such things. You can put it inside one of those and then either carry it or put it in luggage. In my experience, there are no radiologists at the Consulate looking at X-Rays but I suppose the information in the sealed medical results would determine whether the X Ray would be needed at any future point. Nobody ever looked at my wife's or daughter's once they left the hospital.

The Manila Embassy now puts the Xray on a CD disk. This is what my girl was given last week. DId they offer this option to you? Much easier than carrying a hulky bulky huge Xray film around. I would be afraid it would shoot out of the tube after I wound it up to load it in.

I brought my xray to the interview (didn't know about VJ then) and was told right out that they didn't need it, that the radiologist who read the xray had a report in the medical file and that is what they needed. I was told to keep the x-ray as a 'souvenir'.
