I actually watched this unfold on television, it was not an accident by any means. The whole thing is actually on video tape...all of it.

An al-Jazeera technican was shot by the Israeli military today during the filming of a live report, the Arabic satellite broadcaster has claimed.

Al-Jazeera said that technician Wael Tantous, who was part of a crew covering today's Israeli assault on the West Bank town of Nablus, was shot, but declined to elaborate on the extent of his injuries.

The network claimed the attack came after an Israeli military vehicle suddenly sped up towards al-Jazeera's reporter, Jivara al-Budeiri, in "an apparent attempt to interrupt the report".

Al-Jazeera said that Tantous, who was part of the crew working with al-Budeiri, was subsequently shot and immediately rushed to hospital.

"Since the start of the current war on Lebanon al-Jazeera crews have consistently been targeted by the Israeli authorities, resulting in a constant hindrance and obstruction of their work," the broadcaster said in a statement.

"Al-Jazeera again emphatically expresses its strong denunciation and condemnation of this behaviour and reiterates its right to carry on its coverage with impartiality, objectivity and balance."

The Israeli embassy was unable to comment on the claims at the time of publication.

Omg that's awful. I hope he makes it.

Do you think if they start shooting the American reporters over there Bush might actually step in and stop them?

Hopefully he will step in and stop Hezbollah from continuing their terrorist campaign.

I hope not. Bush needs to stay out of this and let Israel do some much-needed housecleaning.

can we send dan rather and a bunch of the ny times people over? ;)

This is was happens when you enter a war zone. I have no sympathy for reporters that voluntarily enter a war zone for a 'scoop'.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Getting caught up in the mix when you willing went there is one thing but being shot because the soldiers were... doing something they didn't want the public to know about?.... is quite another.

Bush should be involved... the US has helped to enable Israel to get to this point.. therefore the US should monitor their activities and step up when needed (now)

What was al-Jazeera doing in Israel in the first place? Who gave them visas? Who let them in?

The same thing US reporters are doing there... reporting the news ;)

They are affiliated with terrorists and should have been denied entry.

just cause you report news from an islamic country does not make you a supporter of any philosophy...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

You can debate the merits and accuracy of their reporting but that does not mean they have direct affiliation with terrorism.
