Okay kids,

This thread is for us to share ideas and opinions about what to wear/what you wore to the interview. For both men and women although I am curious as an Indian woman is it necessary to turn up in full bridal regalia with shiny salwars, bangles, sindoor etc or will jeans and a well fitting shirt be appropriate attire?

Please leave your thoughts/suggestions.

Peace and luck!

Depends on what Country you are in. When I go to Pakistan people stare at me and follow me around when I wear western clothes. So I'm trying to figure out should I wear my western clothes like a nice shirt with long skirt or wear Pakistani clothes.

My fiance wore beige/khaki colored casual dress slacks, a Blue open collared dress shirt, a Brown belt with brass buckle and shoes to match and no tie.

He didn't want to be 'overly' dressed like he was at his first interview (he went all-out at that one), so opted for the more casual look this time.

Note: He said he didn't see any other men with dress ties on either.

I wore jeans and a shirt, no sindoor, no bangles nada. I don't wear any of those in my day to day life, I choose not to wear it for the interview either. There were 6 spousal visa applicant that day, all ladies, no one wore anything shiny, either jeans or a simple salwaar.

Thanks for your input, Trinket.

So, I'm thinking my jeans and a black formal shirt will be good enough for the interview.

Will be wearing my wedding ring AND my engagement ring. But no sindoor or bangles since I don't really wear them. I did wear bangles on my wedding day as evidenced by the picture but no sindoor as we just has a civil registration ceremony and reception dinner.

I wore jeans and a shirt. Just don't look super casual in torn up jeans and faded tees. As long as you look presentable, its fine. Too dressed up or too casual looks uncomfortable.

My wife debated over Jeans or Salwar and finally wore Salwar. I(US citizen) was dressed in dress clothes but they did not let me get in so I had to wait out !!!

Since it's you, SachinKy - I recommend this -

partial bridal regalia with shiny salwars, bangles, sindoor

and use 200 percent more bangles than at the actual wedding.

try to borrow as many gold ear-to-nose chains as possible, I recommend at least 4 on each side.

Don't put anything metal IN THE HAIR, though.

Good Luck !!

Haha. Riiight, Darnell.

I fear that'll be a tad too much for the blistering Bombay heat in May.

Hee hee. I ended up wearing a white dress shirt and clean jeans. No rips and such. Just my rings. No bridal regalia. :star:

I wore flats, jeans, and a smart top when I went for my K-1 visa interview at the Delhi embassy.
