What if, my fiancee and I cannot wait for the k1 visa to be together in marriage. I have just began the K1 process, question is, if we decided to get married at some point in the K1 process and then be forced to switch to the K3, how does that affect the timeline? The I-129F has to be filed anyway with the addition of the 130F, at least I could travel to Pakistan for a few weeks here and there and make the wait easier is my hypothetical question.

If you get married during the K-1 process, then you forfeit the K-1 and you will have to refile. The I-129F does not carry over. This also means paying the filing fee again

The I-129F does not need to be filed with the I-130. You have the option of doing that if you want to go the K-3 route but if you have been doing your homework, K-3 is virtually obsolete and not worth your effort (unless you'd like to post what country you are from then maybe the answer would be different)

Good luck.

No "switching" is allowed. If you marry, you withdraw the I-129F and file an I-130 for a spouse. Follow the CR1 guide.

You cannot be forced to do anything. I really wish people would not even use that phrase. This is entirely a voluntary process where YOU make choices and YOU pay the price.

That said, if you DECIDE to get married before the K-1 is issued and your fiancee arrives in the US, you would withdraw the I-129f, lose you $455 and start over with an I-130 for a CR-1 which takes about a year to complete...maybe more. PLUS you cannot file for it until after you are married, so that means planning a trip to do the wedding.

Your imaptience will cost you dearly in money AND time. Really a wacky idea for an impatient person.

You will have to withdraw the K-1 petition and then wait for that withdrawal to take effect before you can file another petition. So this would more than double the time expected.

Make a plan, work your plan. Do not deviate.
