01/17/2012 - I-797 NOA1 hard copy received --- (1 year extension)

03/07/2012 - Biometrics Done!

Hey all, I have officially received my EAD and AP. It feels so damn good to have both in my hand and see my photo on that card. Just for records and stuff, I received my EAD on the 19th Jan and my AP on the 15th Jan. Congratulations to all others in the same boat.

I've been joking to everyone that my chains that attached me to the sink have finally been unlocked!

Green card should arrive in March according to timelines, roll on baby.

Real easy. Take your green card down to the social security office, and when they call your number tell them you have your green card now, and you would like to update your status with them and get an unrestricted social security card.

If you want to keep your "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" card as a souvenir, leave it in the glove compartment of your car. Don't bring it in with you. They may ask you for your SS number. You should have it memorized. If they ask for the card (they didn't for me) just say that, per their advice, you don't carry it on you and you didn't think you'd need it to update your status. If they get really snotty about it, leave, drive around the block, and come back in with it. They'll taptaptap on their computer, give you a receipt, and your new card will show up in the mail in about 10 days.

I posted a message to my facebook saying I was "no longer being held prisoner by the U.S. Government!" :)

lol no I didn't add him but I saw that he was active the day after our interview so I was thinking, "Ummm why haven't you updated our online status yet buddy???" I feel like if I add him he will never approve us in the system cuz he'll think I'm crazy :rofl:
