Generally, does the work permit comes after the interview? or before? or maybe it doesn't matter ??

Can somebody give me an idea?

Normally EAD comes before the AOS interview if you have one.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Usually the EAD will get approved before the AOS (either the interview or the actual approval) but some folks end up getting their PR/Green Card before the EAD.

thank you all for your quick answers!! I just checked my statut online and they say my card has been order on the 10th of september! I'm so happy, I hope I will receive it soon!

If you get the PR before the EAD do you use the PR card to work or do u still have to wait for the EAD to work?

Once you have been approved for AOS and have the greencard you no longer need a EAD to show you are authorized to work. Also remember that once you have your greencard you need to go back to the SSA and get the restriction that is printed on your SSN card removed and to update your immigration status to LPR.

Can i go get my social security card with my EAD? What else do I need to bring there?

Yes you can go get a SSN with your EAD, you will also need to take your passport and marriage certificate if your passport is still in your maiden name.

You need to complete form SS5 wich you will find on the SSA wesite. CLICK HERE

Do I personally for the SSN? I am in Illinois and married already to my fiancee.Planning to send

the AOS next week. Is it better to wait for the AOS or the EAD to apply?

not sure about your state, but here in Louisiana if your I-194 is close to being expired (within 14 days) they wont help you, so might be best to wait

2009-11-05 Went to change my SSN to my married name but was told it wasnt in the system yet i receive mail from USCIS in my married name

April 15th 2010, received email that my green card is on its way woohooo!!!

April 23rd 2010 received my greencard today

The EAd is issued within 90 days. The interview and green card can come before then making the EAD redundant. My wife had her green card first.
