Hello everyone!

We haven't been apporved yet, but we're just wondering, is it possible to go to the interview regarding the K-1 visa together when the time comes, or is only the foreign fiance allowed? And if it is allowed, is it better to go or to let the fiance go alone?

Sorry if I posted a question asked by someone else before and thank you in advance! :)

All depends on the consulate. Many, perhaps most, will allow the US citizen to attend with the alien fiance. A few only allow the K-1 applicant (beneficiary) to enter.

Where it's allowed, it can't hurt for the US citizen to attend. In some cases, again depending on the consulate, it's absolutely essential.

(as this question pertains to the consular interview stage, moving to Embassy and Consular Discussion)

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

I walked right up to the interview window when they called Alla. No problems. I strongly suggest you go if possible. It is good for her morale if nothing else

I had the same experience as Gary and Joe outline in their posts. I went along, into the embassy, up to the window - no problems. There were actually more questions for me than Vika (none of them related to the visa other than "you know you have to marry within 90 days or her arrival, right?"). I think going along was helpful, as it was irrefutable proof that we actually met during the past two years

The consulate in Kiev does not allow for the petitioner to attend the interview (at least thats what my fiance said when she went for the interview). You could fly to Kiev, but you have to stand outside the building and wait. Totally pointless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They allowed me in (see post above) in January, and all the other posters as well.

Anecdotal evidence would indicate otherwise.........

LOL

Kiev? Ukraine? Planet earth? My friend, we have been to TWO interviews there, one for my wife and one son and the other for our secind son K-2 to follow and you can walk right in and walk right uo to the interview window with your fiancee. I was the one that handed over every document to the consular officer collecting documents. Our most recent interview in Kiev was June 25, so it is not ancient history. Our K-1 was last August and I spoeak with DOZENS of other K-1/K-3 families from Ukraine and ALL were allowed in the consulate (there were a few, very few, not allowed up to the window and they sat in a chair 5 ft away and could hear everything)

Did you maybe happen to READ the other posts from other Ukraine members before you posted? Did you notice a trend perhaps?

In addition to being wrong about the logistics of Kiev, I disagree with you totally that it is pointless to support your fiancee who will be your wife for the rest of your life. I would not have considered otherwise, did not ask and did not care. I WAS going to be there. If I had to stand outside in a cold rain and send my passport in with my fiancee as a show of support...I would. GOOD fiance's do this in HCMC every day (except the rain is warm in HCMC...lucky guys)

Besides that K-1 celebration sex is NOT to be missed out on!!!!!!! Are you kidding me???????

There were no other USC there when your fiancee went? When I went for the K-1 there were 6 interviews and 3 USC present. All went up to the window with their fiancee. For our son's interview (age 18) my WIFE also went and went up to the interview window and wouldn't stop talking!!!!!! There were 6 other fiancees there, 4 with USCs, including another VJ member, and some even brought their children along (though they are not required under age 14), the room was packed with about 12 people. My wife isn't even a US citizen and is not the petitioner! (she IS the K-1 on which his K-2 was derivitive of) When we returned, we were on a flight with another VJ member, who had been present at his fiancee's interview, but was unable to go and fly back with her. Alla helped her fill out her I-94 cards (for her and her son) at JFK and helped her get through POE. Kiev has a very liberal policy of allowing US citizens into the interview. I can assure you, my presence was NOT totally pointless.
