Once the case gets to NVC you will need to send original documents. NVC will not accept photocopies. You can send photocopies along with the I-130 to USCIS.

Getting my feet wet myself with the NVC.

"The National Visa Center (NVC) provides Affidavit of Support Processing and Applicant Document collection for US Embassies and US Consulates. The following information pertains to individuals who have been contacted by the NVC to continue the process of immigrating to the United States."

Since we are petitioning for my wife's son that is over 21 years of age. With the USCIS, we could sent in photocopies of extremely hard to get original documents, but bring in our originals for our interviews. So what's with the NVC, do you actually have to mail in original documents, much like where they will only accept a 400 buck to replace an original USC certificate of naturalization? Do they send them back? Not bad if you were born here with easy to get copies of documents, but trying to get those from a foreign country like Venezuela is almost impossible, have to be there and get a court order, crazy. Those we don't like to send.

Still can figure out why the DOS do not trust their own certified agents to make a copy of your certificate of naturalization, SS does trust their agents in that respect. Crazy.

NVC will not accept photocopies they must be original documents. They will be given back at the interview.

If any originals are sent to USCIS, do they forward these originals on to NVC?

You should never send originals to USCIS only photocopies. It would be unlikely that USCIS would forward original documents to NVC.

When my parents had their interview in London mom said all the papers we sent to NVC were in the file but the I-130 form and the photocopies of certificates we sent to USCIS were NOT in the file.

I understand that a separate set of documents supposed to be provided for each parent since there are two separate petitions. how does it work out for birth certificates of petitioner for example- there's only one "original" ?
