No.. I rent. My company has moved me to other parks every few years, so I always hesitate to buy. Never know how long I am going to be some place and the market has not been great... so, renting makes it easy to just pack up and move if I am transferred someplace else.

Oh ok...

The stamp on the I94 is an EAD ( Though we won't start that conversation again about whether or not it's accepted by employers).. The green card will become his EAD when he has it.

Ohhhh. don't we learn something new everyday!

OHH.. I bet you are excited that she is arriving tomorrow. Even if she will stay in New York a while before coming to Florida.

I'll be watching to see if you post anything about POE. I am hoping we have no issues on Sunday and it all goes quickly.

Oh stop worrying, it'll be fine!

I'm going to be at the race all day so she will probably call me while I'm still there. Once I get home I will give a quick post with the update. Good night everybody.

Ok Seb, good luck and be safe!

I wonder how's Kayla? I'm pretty sure she's reaching for that ice'pack! :star:

Well, it's looking like I could possibly get our interview date this week! I've been fairly patient through the whole process; I never called NVC, and I've yet to call DOS... but I think the excitement is getting to me. I'm actually planning on calling DOS on Monday in hopes that they'll give me an interview date. While I'm excited about that, I'm worried that it's going to be in May, and if that's the case, my GPA is going to plummet because I'll have to drop out of this semester. In my eyes, not going to his interview just isn't an option to me. Even though I'm worried about this whole school thing, I'm a little happy (and hoping) on the inside, because it means that I'll get to seem him sooner than originally planned. :D Conflicted feelings... EEK! lol :)

Actually, I am more worried about him getting on the plane than going through POE. He's never been on a plane before, never been past the front counter at the airport when he takes me there. Had to show him how to read a plane ticket so he could find his gate, his seat.. what to do when he gets to the airport, etc.

He had me bring a lot of his stuff back with me, because he wants to be able to do only carry on. Doesn't want to have to worry about figuring out how to find his luggage :) He insists on only bringing a back pack.. I INSIST he bring the small carry on suitcase I took to him.

I've tried to explain it to him, and my concerns, so I PRAY he listens and does what I ask ( he does not want to bring the carry on.. just the back pack). My concern is this:

Muslim Man

One way ticket to the United States

Not checking any luggage

RED FLAG RED FLAG RED FLAG

That doesn't look good and I am worried he will have problems with Security at the airport in Istanbul. Fuat, Please please please please please.. take that small suitcase.

Kayla.. have fun ice packin it :)

Frenzy Heart... hope you get your interview date soon. I know this is more important than school right now.. but it would be a shame to have to waste the whole semester like that.

You should be able to request a one or two week (or even a month) delay without problems - just tell them that you wanted to be there but can't be in Canada until after the 15th because of school, and could you please reschedule. I know we were able to, in Brazil, and the only rule Brazil has is that you can't schedule sooner than one month from the current date.

In fact, you should probably put that request in to the consulate *now* before they've assigned it -- it's always easier to get it right the first time than to change it! :)

I figured I would try to give you a bit of information about SSN's and EAD. As a K1 visa holder you are allowed to apply for a SSN, but wait it does say to wait 2 weeks so you are registered in the system. All I had to bring was my visa, passport and birth certificate.

Just to follow up with this - Sifa went yesterday to apply (3 weeks after he got here) for the SS card. He ONLY needed his passport (with visa inside, of course). He took his birth certificate, but I was glad they didn't ask for it - it has a different name from his passport & visa and I didn't want there to be any confusion! No hassle. They told him to expect 2 weeks until he gets the card in the mail.

Next up: applying for the marriage license this week!

Hmmm yeah, we probably could, but this semester is going horribly anyways, and I'm in the midst of changing my major to something where this semester is pretty null & void as it is. I know at least one of my professors will be willing to work with me, but as for the other two, I'm not sure; I'm just going to have to talk to them and find out. I'm just ready to go back to Canada, even if it means going a bit earlier.

I don't know why, but when I posted today I didn't see Jenn or Kaylas post above mine.

Jenn as a woman married to a Muslim born man, I just want to say they are loyal, loving, wonderfully stubborn men. Don't be suprised if he comes with his backpack. tongue.gif

Kayla, I'm really sorry about your luggage, I hope they get everything back to you soon, I also hope you had the material for the interview in a carry on with you.

Frenzyheart sounds like you are just ready to move on to the next level. Good Luck!

Katie, sounds like everything is going great for you two.
