I don't think that its necessarily synonymous with that, but slavery certainly is (inextricably) wrapped up in the Confederate movement.

I was simply drawing a conclusion from a symbol in a persons username. Your logic assumes I am insulting him. He has a confederate flag...the confederates support slavery therefore if he supports the confederates he must condone slavery. How do we even know if he is insulted. He hasn't stated he is against the repression of african americans. He may very well be proud of that it.

I think that's the problem with using imagery like that - it associates you with a certain ideology whether you necessarily believe in it or not.
