This is what my online application status states:

If you applied for both a U.S. Passport Book and a U.S. Passport Card on the same application, the newly issued documents, as well as your returned citizenship evidence, may be mailed to you in separate packages at different times. Therefore, it is possible to receive 3 separate mailings; one with your returned citizenship evidence, one with your newly issued passport book, and one with your newly issued passport card.

Your passport application is in the final processing stages.

Your passport application locator number is xxxxxxxxx.

When you applied, you requested Expedite Service.

This means your passport should be mailed via overnight delivery on or about 11/07/2009.

If you have any additional questions, please contact the National Passport Information Center with the above locator number. It will enable them to update you on the status of your application.



Very fast processing! I did my passport application at the Clerk-Recorder's Office in San Jose, CA and the staff was so friendly and even called me on my cellphone about some mistake I made on the application. Went back right away and fixed it. If my passport arrives by 11/07, then the total processing time is only 9 days. I applied for both passport book and card as I do a lot of land trips across CA borders. Getting one for my son and husband, too. $20 only if you have applied for US passport or you already have a US passport. Not bad.

03/12/2010 - Package received by NVC

03/17/2010 - Package registered in the System

.......................waiting for interview schedule, sent mom a copy of the AOS and IV package

3/25/2010 - Case completed at NVC. Waiting for email notification for interview date.

4/13/2010 - Interview date set for May 13, 2010

7/12/2010 - Medical passed

7/15/2010 - Interview Schedule

7/21/2010 - Visa received from Air21 (Visayas)

I apologize for monopolizing this page, but I am just so excited I want to tell you guys right away that I got my passport in the mail today! October 29-November 5- exactly 7 days.

Now I don't have to worry crossing the border on the 20th. Just waiting for my passport card and precious certificate.

Good luck to all who are still in the process. It won't be long now.

Hi,

I received my passport book today - my naturalization certificate was returned as well (2 separate envelopes). :star:

I guess my passport card will arrive within the next days, too. Would somebody update my info, please?

Well, I just received a phone call from the Passport Office doing a final follow up to make sure I had received everything - my passport, the passport card and my citizenship document. I have to admit the Passport Office itself does a great job - USPS, on the other hand . . . . !

babonsi, have you received your certificate back yet? What is the status update for your situation?

Unfortunately, I might be one of those cases where there is no resolution, despite the countless wasted hours spent on the phone with every possible screwed up government agency (ha, do I sound like a US citizen now?) Nobody seems to know where my certificate is.

I have called the Passport information center at least 1/2 dozen times, they reported it to the passport agency in San Francisco and told me I would be contacted directly by the SF agency at some point (which still hasn't happened - and the only way to contact them is by writing a letter since they do not take calls ???). I have filed numerous claims with anyone & everyone possible. I spoke with our local postal office, they reported it to our carrier who was supposed to double-check every single empty mail receptacle in our subdivision for possible misplacement, since our neighborhood is still being developed and there are quite a few unassigned mail receptacles. Nothing came out of that. I made my way up to the delivery supervisor, he wasn't able to tell me anything I hadn't heard countless times already.

All I know at this point is that my certificate was in fact mailed out on Sept 16th, same day as my passport. After that, no one is willing to assume responsability. USPS wants a tracking number, which I obviously don't have since the pasport agency mails out the certificates first class, just like any other piece of junk! The passport agency says they mailed the certificate on 9/16 and it's out of their hands. All I got is apologies, regrets and "I understand, ma'm" ...

So when all is said and done, I will simply have to cough up another $380 in order to file for a certificate replacement and pay for someone else's incompetence. How f*cked up is that?

Sorry for my rambling, pretty frustrated at this point. And to think we were THIS close to be completely done dealing with all this.

Hope everyone else gets their stuff ok, with no problems. This is not fun at all.

Well, I actually have a little update to my story, if anyone is still following this. I had sent a letter on Oct 15 to the San Francisco passport agency (mailed it via certified mail w/ delivery confirmation - not taking any chances there for them to say they never received it!) I won't go into details about what I put in the letter- suffice it to say that there shouldn't be any confusion on their end as to what the problem is and what I think about it.

Since I still hadn't heard back from them after all that, I went ahead and contacted our Congressman. The very next day, I received a letter from him. Once I mailed back the Privacy Act Release to his office, they started making inquiries on my behalf.

To be honest, I really didn't think anything would come out of this.

Well, to my surprise, the congressional office kept thier promise and got the San Fran passport agency to step up and assume responsabilty (I guess my numerous phone calls & letter weren't enough for the agency; after all, I am JUST a paying customer!)

I just got a call from the passport agency this morning and, long story short, they are going to issue a refund for a certificate replacement. In his words, "the congressional office didn't want to hear anything we (the passport agency) had to say and they DEMANDED a statement in writing for a refund to be issued". Oh yeah! Way to go Mr. Congressman :thumbs: (I might even vote for him next time lol)

They said that it might take a few days for the whole thing to be finalized but, hey, I've been waiting for months now - I think I can handle a few more days! And, even more, the guy said that they have been discussing this very issue last week in a meeting and will bring it up again during their next conference call with all the Passport Agencies throughout the US and come up with a more secure way of mailing back the naturalization certificates. Hey, if this can help change their screwed up system then I'll be more than happy to have been the unfortunate case to stir the sh*t and get them to do something about it.

So I guess raising a little hell pays off, after all.

Oh that is good news! I am so glad that your Congressman went to the bat for you and got what is the only real resolution worth considering. I hope you receive the refund soon. It is too bad that it needed to take a Congressman's involvement, though, for you to get a response. I am glad that the passport office is giving serious consideration to using a more secure method to return such important documents as Naturalization papers and passports. I still think that someone needs to put USPS' 'feet to the fire' as well, though - the Passport Office chose a less than secure method of returning the documents but it is still USPS who is responsible (or 'irresponsible') for losing them. I find it rather distressing to see the number of Naturalization documents that haven't been received back in the list of passport receipt times here. Again, congratulations - and I am so pleased at your news.

Hey Guys, I got too busy and forgot to apply for Passport, until some of my friend reminded me have you done that.

Here is My First Question. Do I have to Go to Post office Inperson with filled DS11 form+ 2 Passport Pic+ Naturalization Certificate?

What is that Online thing, i almost hit submit and backed off..What is that for? Can First time US passport applicants do Online submit form?

Have to show up in person, and don't forget your checkbook. Talking about passport waiting time, one year, two months, and seven days have already gone by on my wife's passport, only eight years, nine months, and 23 days left. After you get your passport, time flies extremely quick.
