Sry guys but I'm just confused on this part.. Do I need to copy all parts of my passport(petitioner) or I just need to send them the part on my passport that has a stamp on it?

From my attorney's advice they want all pages of your passport, and I even copied the blank pages.

Thank you for your quick response.. Time to add these things to my papers.. Is it okay if I would staple it together?

Context matters. In fact, in this case, context is KING. When using the passport to prove US Citizenship, copying all pages is required. If you provide a birth certificate for citizenship proof, you can provide the biographic page plus applicable visa pages as evidence of meeting in person. What is needed varies based on what the passport is being used to evidence.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

A stamp in your passport is not proof of a relationship. It's proof that somebody entered a country. If that stamp is on a visa, and if that visa has the passport number on it, and if you also include the bio page (the one with the photo) from the passport, then you've got some proof that it was YOU who entered that country. Combine that with some pictures of you and your fiancee and you've got some proof that you've actually met each other. Add a few more stamped visas and some more pictures, and you're beginning to have proof of a relationship.

All that's needed for the initial petition is proof that you've met each other.

If you intend to use your passport as proof of US citizenship then you need to include copies of every page. If you have other proof of your citizenship, such as a copy of your birth certificate or certificate of naturalization, then you can include copies of the visa stamped pages and the bio page as evidence of having met your fiancee. It would be a good idea to include additional evidence, if you've got it.

Don't staple your pages together. Use paper clips. Optionally, you can two-hole punch the pages and use an Acco fastener. There are general instructions and guidelines for assembling your package here:

I included both as my passport copies and certificate of naturalization. Does it really matter if you staple it? Anyways, I had given all my stuff to my attorney and they were going to assemble it and mail it out. But, I had given them copies of my passport stapled together in order.

I find it simple silly to copy ALL pages of your passport. Why would the front page not be enough? It has my passport code on there they can look up!

I sent in my birth certification back and front, and my passport (First page with signature/id/info and the stamps.

If that isn't enough then they need to learn how to use a computer to look up information.

They're not going to reject your petition for using staples, if that's what you mean. It's more of a courtesy to USCIS. They're going to remove the staples and put the papers in their own folders using 2-hole fasteners anyway.

I find it simple silly to copy ALL pages of your passport. Why would the front page not be enough? It has my passport code on there they can look up!

If that isn't enough then they need to learn how to use a computer to look up information.

There have been a couple of interesting theories about that. One was that USCIS wanted to make sure you actually have the entire passport, and not just some pages that were lost from somebody elses passport. Apparently, a passport isn't valid identification unless you have the entire book, cover to cover. I suppose they could also have a better chance of identifying if it was a stolen passport with a modified bio page if they see copies of every page.

Your passport can contain a lot of information that USCIS would not have in their computers. You don't apply to USCIS to get a visa to a foreign country - you apply to the consulate or embassy of that country. Whether you were granted or denied entry into a country is also often not known to USCIS, but it would be recorded in your passport. If you present copies of a passport that includes all pages then they verify things like passport numbers on the visa stamps with the passport numbers on the bio page, which would increase the chances that it's a copy of a real passport that has actually been used, and not a photoshopped fake.

Anyway, those are just theories. Someone in a position to make command decisions at USCIS apparently decided that having copies of the whole thing helped them somehow, so that's what they ask for.

Hey,, for your information you are not in Kansas anymore...

You want them to look up something or draw a conclusion based up on weak evidence. You are in for a long wait with several RFEs ahead.

You make it hard,,, they make you wait. That is how this journey goes. Give them what is asked for and then a little more and you will

be ok. Don't assume they will do anything to help you.

Let me know how that works out for you.

Good Luck,, and I mean it... :) :) :)

It is the petitioner's/applicant's responsibility to provide the evidence.

Please don't delay your process by thinking that the work will be done for you by those at the Service Center, NVC, and/or Embassy. Sure way to get an RFE.

DING DING DING!!

Thank you, sir, for your common sense and practical thinking.

It never ceases to amaze me, the folks here who want to "Dare the system" and send in less than bare requirements for petition approval.

More than 5 people here recently said, "You only need one photograph" of you and her.

Then, so many stand on the "It's only secondary evidence, so it's not that important."

I stand with you, and say, a little overkill and good organization goes a long way when dealing with the bloated system of the USCIS.

Why try and be a tough guy and "Dare the system"??

All the best!
