Security Clearance for job?

Hello,

I have been here a little over a week now and still looking for work. I have found some job applications that say "All positions require that you either have, or be eligible for a U.​S.​ Department of Defense Security Clearance". Am I eligible for this security clearance with my green card? Or do I need to be a citizen?

You need to be a citizen or a GC holder with exceptional skills like the top of your class in an IVY league school.

Thanks for the replies, I think I found the answer to the jobs I was looking at and I need to be a citizen for these ones, ah well, something will come along for me I hope sooner rather than later!

Most jobs with the US Govt require that you're a US Citizen, no exceptions. Even an office job like receptionist; you must be a citizen. Good luck with the job hunt!

That's not quite true. At my wife's GC interview, they asked her about the sort of work she wanted to do. They practically offered her a job in their office. There are lots of govt jobs (maybe not such good ones, but anyway) that are open to Permanent Residents.
