Hi Guys,

I am so happy that I find this forum which I think is so helpful with alot of information :)

I have a question and hope you guys can help.

I will fill for citizenship in 3 months and I want to know if I should put the first job I got when I came here which was cashier. I did not pay any taxes and I was wondering if USCIS can deny my application for that?

I also keep working there for 2 years after I got my GC (please don't judge my action).

Thanks for all input and help.

Thanks for the reply I want to be honest but I am too scared that they deny my application and I have to repay the fees. I know I did a mistake but I was and still a student.

Having been a student DON'T count!! You broke the law. Not a great way to start your new life in the US.

You will be lucky if you only have to pay the unpaid taxes.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

I know...I did a mistake by staying at my family business. I needed that money to pay my tuitions but I know it is not a good reason.

Please tell me guys if I should list this job in my application.

Thank you (please I don't need judgmental comments).

lying to USCIS - especially on a written form - can have very serious consequences. You can file your taxes for the years you didn't file retroactively. If you didn't make a lot of money you may not even owe any taxes. If you owe taxes, then better to pay them and clear up the problem. Being found out in a lie by USCIS will definitely impact your citizenship application far more seriously than not paying taxes.

Nobody here is going to tell you to lie in your N-400 application., It is against the Terms of Service to do so. You knew you were breaking the law, now deal with it.

Wow that was rough lol ok i will deal with it!

Thanks for the reply.

How can I file the taxes for the years that I did not?

Contact the IRS and ask them for the tax forms for those years - or go to a tax accountant or someone like H&R Block. Good luck.

Others have already given you good advice. I would add that if you only made a very small amount of money, you might not have to have of filed taxes at all. See this article: http://www.smartmoney.com/personal-finance...x-return-20713/ for an example of what I mean...

My daughter in college with part time jobs does not meet the minimum incomes to have to file, but have been filing for her anyway for two good reasons. First is the USCIS as they require three years of tax returns, second is, she can get ten-fifty bucks back in refunds. Hey, for a kid going to college, that is a lot of money! Actually, last year she got back over 500 bucks, since we are claiming her as a dependent, we have to as we are paying her tuition and need those tax breaks. If you cannot claim yourself as a dependent, they really cream you on income tax.

By not filing, and earning more than $3,000 you screwed yourself out of a 600 buck rebate. Our daughter was screwed out of it anyway, we couldn't claim her because she was over 18, and she couldn't get that rebate because she was claimed on our tax returns. Wrote my senator about that, he said that is really a big hole in the system and will get back to me. Still waiting.

Now you have to explain to the USCIS why you didn't file a tax return, is a requirement for evidence, no advice from me how to deal with that. You can even file with a zero income, no restrictions on that, but be prepared to pay zero taxes.

This is the best advice, I don't know why some other people here think they are judges!.

What goes around comes around.
