Time for a second opinion? Find a good OB/GYN by word of mouth? There should be less wait time than in Canada.

How does one go about finding one? In Canada my doctor needed to refer me, is it the same here?

no,...no referral is needed for most ob-gyn.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Your best bet is finding out with your insurance company. I think that would be safest.

I once went to a doc...I asked 'do you take bcbs?' and he was like 'sure'....well lo and behold, he DID take it, but he took it as an 'out of network' provider...which left me with 30% of the bill instead of like $100. And I didn't find out until I had been there like 4 times and had some extensive testing & a procedure done.

So while he wasn't telling me a lie...it wasn't exactly the truth either.

So yeah, call your health ins and get them to explain how you can get a second opinion without hanging yourself out to dry.

Stina,

Sorry, I have not been following the threads regarding your doctor visits. I don't know if anyway has mentioned this, but what about ovarian cysts? I had them about 10 years ago and there were days I would darn near hit the floor the pain was so bad. The area of pain you are talking about is exactly where my pain was. I also always felt an uncomfortable fullness in my lower abdomen. Sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but just reading your post brought back a lot of memories. Hope you are feeling better soon! (F)

That was my first thought too. I'm sure you have thought of anything and everything. It just sounded like some of the symptoms.

I'm not a doctor, just a nurse with an opinion. Hope you find out something soon. (F)

I was wondering if it could be the sciatic nerve as well causing problems, if not an ovarian cyst - which may be somewhat cyclical in pain. Have you thought of seeing a chiropractor and getting an adjustment through the hips and pelvis just in case it is a nerve impingement? Might be something to try while you ae waiting for the specialist. Good luck in solving your problem soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

In my practice about 75% of all I work on is for pain in lumbar or lowback. Many pain is not necessary Sciatica.. much is also due to the Periformis muscle.. which is a muscle across the buttocks. I have seen many times when I work on the Periformis and Sacral-Illiac joint, releasing the tightness or spasm to the soft tissues I get extremely good results.

Stina.. if you have someone press (gently) on your buttocks.. you know where there is that butt dimple.. mid way? does it hurt? does it mimic any of the pain.?

the nerves coming from L-4-S-1 can cause some of the similar feelings that you are saying.. burning in groin, to low back, to inner thigh.

Dont rule this out. it could be part of the issue or it could in fact be the issue..

If you have not tried Acupuncture.. give it a try.. it wont hurt.. and actually is very relaxing.. .. Chiro is great .. if you are indeed out of whack.. but if there are muscle spasm.. Acupuncture. or massage can help to relax those muscles.. then can get adjusted better if needed..

other thought...?/? have they rules out a DVT? Deep Vein Thrombosis?

My daughter had similar pains.. low back groinleg.. etc.. leg started swelling.. they did a ultrasound looking for dvt.. and found a clott from her knee to abdomin ... all due to her birth control..

Hope you begin to feel better... Hugs.. J

Thanks for the info! They havent really ruled anything out. Quite frankly, I dont feel like they even care. I will test this stuff out when hubby gets home from work.

You guys have been so helpful, I am taking notes to bring to my doctor, but I feel like, if i am the one who brings up what it could be, they dont think thats it because they didnt think of it.

Something else to look into is Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. Many of the symptoms you posted in other threads match to a tee. Saw a few sites you could look into, this one gives a list of the symptoms. http://www.aafp.org/afp/20021001/1239.html

Research Criteria for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

  1. In most menstrual cycles during the past year, five (or more) of the following symptoms were present for most of the time during the last week of the luteal phase, began to remit within a few days after the onset of the follicular phase, and were absent in the week postmenses, with at least one of the symptoms being either (1), (2), (3), or (4):

    1. Markedly depressed mood, feelings of hopelessness, or self-deprecating thoughts
    2. Marked anxiety, tension, feelings of being "keyed up" or "on edge"
    3. Marked affective lability (e.g., feeling suddenly sad or tearful or increased
      sensitivity to rejection)
    4. Persistent and marked anger or irritability or increased interpersonal conflicts
    5. Decreased interest in usual activities (e.g., work, school, friends, hobbies)
    6. Subjective sense of difficulty in concentrating
    7. Lethargy, easy fatigability, or marked lack of energy
    8. Marked change in appetite, overeating, or specific food cravings
    9. Hypersomnia or insomnia
    10. A subjective sense of being overwhelmed or out of control
    11. Other physical symptoms, such as breast tenderness or swelling, headaches, joint or muscle pain, a sensation of "bloating," or weight gain

I'm sorry that your still dealing with the same pain Stina! I am hoping and praying that you will soon find out what it is that is causing all the havoc on your insides ....

CanGal

Thanks, CanGal.

What's really getting me frustrated is the doctors. They don't want to test to see what I have, they want to rule everything out, so basically they want to test what I dont have. I have developed a couple new symptoms over the days, i now have this dry taste in my mouth that tastes disgusting, big headaches (not prone to those), chronic fatigue and burning eyes.

I hope this gets sorted out soon as I am starting my pastoring at my church soon and I have a lot of stuff to get together and just dont have the energy to do it.

I am thinking I may have to be a bit more agressive with these doctors. I have been married for almost 6 months and out of those 6, I only had one month of being at least semi-healthy.

I'm watching the newlywed part of our marriage fly on by... :(
