Does anyone feel that it would be best to hire a lawyer? How has it been doing this on your own? I am not ready to get one yet. but i am trying to inform myself with what is the best thing to do. So i am just trying to ask questions and see what i can find out.

I hired a lawyer....although it brought me some peace of mind at first (because he was "working" for me... I did all the leg work...IRS transcripts, bank letters, employer letter, etc. etc , etc ....the list goes on and on...), I found out that it would have been so much easier to file for a K-1 visa myself with the help of this site... after all, I would have to do all the work anyway....

The immigration proccess doesn't care whether or not you have a lawyer... all they care about is the documentation you have to support your case.

The immigration proccess doesn't care whether or not you have a lawyer... all they care about is the documentation you have to support your case.
Not untrue, but a knowledgeable one can certainly help fend off mistakes or offer valuable insights before one files the petition.

all i can say is one and two years ago i was full of hope thought my attorney might be the best way to go blah blah blah,

now he is M.I.A and after finding this site found out i could have done the same thing he did maybe even better because what ever i did would be in my best interest it would be personal not based on NEXT as in next person to pay money

most attorneys are like used car salesmen they all talk a good game but the proof is when the car breaks down.

Again, if you opt to consult an attorney, thoroughly investigate his/her qualifications beforehand.

You seem to be an apologist for these shysters. When offering advice also let them know that once they file the G-28 they are stuck. Also let them know that it's pretty much impossible to fire them and get your paperwork back. They can take their sweet time and there is no recourse. Check with the California bar association.

I'm glad things worked out for you and your attorney. There are many other people here (myself included) that gut f**cked.

If my husband I would've listened to the advice of an Attorney we would not be where we are now in this process. I'm so glad we did this one on our own with the guidance of others that has been through this process, and lots of prayers.
