Good think we didn't have a cake. Or expensive dress. Or a wedding planner. Or a meddling mom. Or a batchelor party. There's enough problems without any of that.

Agreed. My brother in law is getting married this august and I'm in the wedding party. It's been one the most HORRIBLE experiences of my life. The girl he is marrying has made it complete hell for every one involved and I was very close to quitting. The only reason I stayed in was because it would have caused MORE ####### if I had said I was stepping out.

At least a $50,000.00 wedding EASILY...and I've been dealing with it since day 2 of engagement. For almost a year now we have been put through hell about it all.

It only makes me think of how shitty their marital life is going to be. She demands, he gives in. It will only last for so long!

Wow

That's really sad. If you feel it's headed for the rocks, maybe you should try to talk him out of it?

seriously on number 1? i doubt any groom ever gets to choose the cake.

Your marriage is doomed!

2. The Groom Lets His Mom Call the Shots

"Most of my brides involve their moms in the planning process, and why wouldn't they? It's like having a second planner for free. But sometimes, grooms' mothers try to muscle in too, which is something I'll never understand. Not only is it inappropriate, but it's up to her son to tell her that."

You've got to be kidding me.

Your marriage is doomed!

My daughter took care of everything for us, she is good at that, all we had to do was to show up. But my wife to be, agreed that our wedding cake should be Italian, their secret ingredient is cream cheese. Only problem with that, was nothing left of it to bring home. Also gave my budget to my daughter and was correct in that she would double it, but was prepared for that. It was a wonderful day for all of us. Was vehemently instructed not to bring my cameras, that would be all taken care of for us.

In regards to my bachelor party, that naked gal jumping out of the cake was my wife to be with a bottle of imported champaign, a night to remember that I will never forget.

See these kids spend $25,000.00 for a wedding with not even a pot to pee in, hell of a way to start off a marriage, deep in debt. Told my daughter with the invitations, please don't bring a gift, we just want you there to share our day. Talk about reverse psychology, it works.

Why do you hate coconuts?

Because it's hard and hairy on the outside, wet and soft on the inside, begins with a 'C', ends with a 'T' and has a 'U' and an 'N' in it?

Confessions of a Wedding Planner: 5 Signs a Couple Will Crash and Burn

After witnessing 50 to 80 weddings per year (and being exposed to behaviors that a couple doesn't always reveal to others), a wedding planner has identified some signs that scream "Red flag!" Here, she spills the predictors of whether a couple will live happily ever after or bite the dust.

1. The Bride Refuses to Let the Groom Choose the Cake

"Brides are almost always more interested in the minutiae of wedding planning than grooms are. But when I encounter a woman who refuses to relinquish any control to her fiancé, it doesn't bode well. I can think of a few instances in which the woman ruled the event with an iron fist and the couple ended up in divorce court a few years later. Basically, they weren't able to make decisions together."

Well, Tim has some friends that do wedding cakes, so I'm not even there to make decisions! I think he said we'd have a tiered cake, but at this point, I don't know how big, or flavour. I do not want to bring it home...let the people eat it!!!

Want the flip side to each of these signs? Read the complete article on Cosmo's official website.

Both of our mothers have passed on. Course doesn't stop his sisters...

3. The Bride Blows Half the Budget on Her Dress

"Weddings are pricier than ever, and money-related issues can cause a lot of undue tension. So when a bride goes behind her groom's back and splurges on a big-name dress or expensive flower arrangements, I start to get nervous. It's a huge sign that she doesn't respect him and refuses to compromise...and trust me, those tendencies don't disappear after she walks down the aisle. I have worked with tons of couples who fought viciously over the wedding budget and learned later that many of them continued to argue and eventually split."

My dress is very non traditional, using a pattern and material that was $2.99/yard. In total, my dress cost about $23

4. The Bride Freaks Over the Groom's Bachelor Party

"I've seen some women wig out about the possibility of her guy having a boys' night at a strip club. One client of mine even threatened to leave her fiancé if he had a bachelor party. But my motto is: If you can't trust him, why the hell are you walking down the aisle?!"

Wondering how wild typical prewedding bashes can get? Read Cosmo's Confessions of a Bachelor Party Stripper.

Not worried. I KNOW Tim won't be going to a stripper club. Wouldn't be worried even if he did. ( He's marrying ME after all)

5. The Bride and Groom Fight in Front of Me

"No matter how in love two people may be, planning a ceremony and reception is overwhelming and will no doubt cause a few tiffs. But warning bells immediately start ringing for me if the couple gets really heated with each other in my presence. Arguments are private, and dragging me into them shows that there is a lack of respect for each other and for their bond."

Yep, got us there, but just not in front of anyone! And not really "fighting" per se. Emotions are running high...I'm facing immigration and moving as well as planning a wedding. But Tim is the best most wonder patient man and he totally understands! I'm very blessed.

Hmmmm, my dress was very simple made in Brasil, cheaper than buying a regular work dress in JC Penney.

My MIL made our tiny simple cake.

We got married in a courthouse so no wedding plans, etc.

We didn't have bachelor parties, hubby was working the day before, the day of the wedding, and the day after. He just got out early on the day came home showered put on a simple suit and we headed to the courthouse.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

That's what I was thinking.

Do most men even care?

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

A friend of mine had her bachelorette party. Let's just say it got REALLY raunchy. They videotaped the whole thing. The next day we are watching some of the exploits.....the women are all laughing and making comments. The guys in the room are like why do women do that? Videotapes, pictures, stories....evidence???? Guys make up their story before they even leave the bachelor party so everyone has it straight.....NOTHING happened.

I had to laugh.

You've got to be kidding me.
Almost happened with us in 2001 (when I was on GC, not yet naturalised to US, and my mum was still alive); my mum wanted the wedding to be in Bengaluru (which neither Pras nor I, as "typical" LEF, thought desirable--our first, and only two, default choices were both in Chennai).

2005/07/10 I-129F filed for Pras

2005/11/07 I-129F approved, forwarded to NVC--to Chennai Consulate 2005/11/14

2005/12/02 Packet-3 received from Chennai

2005/12/21 Visa Interview Date

2006/04/04 Pras' entry into US at DTW

2006/04/15 Church Wedding at Novi (Detroit suburb), MI

2006/05/01 AOS Packet (I-485/I-131/I-765) filed at Chicago

2006/08/23 AP and EAD approved. Two down, 1.5 to go

2006/10/13 Pras' I-485 interview--APPROVED!

2006/10/27 Pras' conditional GC arrives -- .5 to go (2 yrs to Conditions Removal)

2008/07/21 I-751 (conditions removal) filed

2008/08/22 I-751 biometrics completed

2009/06/18 I-751 approved

2009/07/03 10-year GC received; last 0.5 done!

2009/07/23 Pras files N-400

2009/11/16 My 46TH birthday, Pras N-400 approved

2010/03/18 Pras' swear-in
