MENA Slumber Party history

When I waited for my ex to interview in Jordan in 2004, I sat home alone and waited for the phone to ring. It was a long night. I never forgot that 'alone' feeling and I never wanted anyone else to wait alone.

As our MENA group grew, and we all got to know each other better, it seemed cool to use the VJ chat room to all get together and keep the woman waiting company for awhile as she waited for that long distance call. So, I would post an 'Invite' in the MENA forum (always with a silly picture). Sometimes there would be 6 of us...I think once we got up to 15 in chat.

The first was for LebaneseBride. I remember JP was there and Lal and Jenn....there have probably been over 50 slumber parties since then...lost count :P Each one is different, some we shared recipes, some we told jokes...and some..we were just plain silly.

I would always give the guest of honor my phone number in case she wanted someone to tell at 4am when the call came. Many took me up on that and I was always delighted to get that call.

As the years went by the parties slowed down~~ but I haven't retired yet. Our most recent was for Amanda. Out of our parties have come the Princess Bride Posse, the Pineapple Paddlers, special appearances by Sheik Yabooti and his cousin Ibn Fartin.

(seriously, you are!) Your generousity and compassion in the time of need, is....well heartwarming. You have touched the lives of several of our girls over the years and I know they appreciate it.

BUMP!!

Question--Which much missed member has/had "Avast Ye" beneath their avatar?

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

California and it was Ewok.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
