Guys,

People said it's an insurance to send snail mails to one's fiancee. Does my fiancee need to send me snail mails back?

Thanks!

Nope you do not need that. I just kept my phone bills and printed out some of the emails that we sent back and forth and copies of all of our plane tickets and pictures of us everytime that we were together, I even included pictures of myself with his family and pictures of Nigel with my family! Hope this helps.

You need to present evidence of a legitimate relationship not entered into for immigration benefits. Legitimate relationships produce their own evidence without anyone "having to do" anything. Communicate in your normal manner and submit records as evidence.

Yes, many couples here have been asked at the embassy if they have any cards or letters from their loved one.

Besides, its fun and romantic to send and receive and old fashioned letter or card. It shows you care!

True enough about getting mail!! I love to send Tim something. Once when he got my card he says..."Donna, (my sister) must have sent me a card today, cause there's lipstick all over it!!" I don't wear lipstick, actually, but I bought one so I could kiss the card all over!!!

What country is the beneficiary from? It may help you to go to that countries forum, to find out what the consulates expect at interview time. For myself, I was in Vancouver Canada, and when she asked proof of ongoing relationship, I handed over a pile of pictures, and all she did was glance at the top one. She didn't even look at the emails we had, or the fact we talk on skype, or my boarding passes....etc. I think she could just pick up from talking with me, that Tim and I are indeed a couple in love... :luv:

Best wishes for you journey..... :star:

I haven't been exchanging snail mail correspondence with my fiance. We email and chat every day and I printed out a bunch of those for my initial application. We also talk on Skype, cell and sms constantly. Unfortunately many modes of communication now don't leave a paper trail (Skype, cell phone using int'l calling card, texting). Paradoxically, if a relationship is sincere it's almost harder to produce the "evidence" of it because it, and the communications involved in it, evolve organically. I find that the most frustrating part of this process - besides the wait!

Skype and cell phone bills will most certainly provide what you need - a listing of time, duration and the id of the other half of the communication. This much will show the frequency and duration of your conversations.

If your cell phone bill doesn't currently show it, you can call and ask them to send you a detailed bill which includes a call history....Do a search, I'm sure I have seen directions for exporting Skype history.

Nope you do not need that.
I consider such advice to be unverifiable, overly casual, and potentially perilous to follow. Some consulates are extremely behind the times in comparison with those of us who consider pure high-tech communication to be the "standard," and therefore adequate. Accordingly, it makes EMINENT sense to bring at least a few postal exchanges to the consular interview... and, better, to include them in the I-129F petition in case your consulate is one that kicks interviewees out for "lack of evidence of relationship" while refusing to consider or even accept the evidence that has been brought to the interview.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I guess the consulate should be reasonable, but we the applicants should prepare for the worst. Realistically, emails, scans, phone calls and im's should cover all communicates. They are fast and cheap. There is really no use for snail mails except for sending original documents, romantic letters, and gifts maybe.

The more you love each other, the more difficult this process(journey) gets...

Yes, by all means write a few letters and send a few cards. It is very good evidence compared to e mails and chat logs which can be copied. Your proof is in the post marks on the envelopes.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
