CONGRATS  alhayatzween!!

Im sorry that you cant get it registered here :( Maybe on the next trip home you guys can get it done there?

HLM,

The "family book" is really the only way to "officially" register your marriage in certain countries. It shows who is a member of your family.

The hubby gets removed from the fathers family book and gets his own to register his wife and future children.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

How interesting...so which other Arab countries have this?? I only know about Egypt or Saudi Arabia and I don't believe either one of those countries have that. Although they may and maybe I just never heard of it

H says no "family books" in Egypt....

Olivia: Are you sure you want Egyptian citizenship? Think I'll pass until I can think of a SINGLE GOOD REASON to have it.. and I'll follow your lead and wait 2 years and THEN if I want it I'll do it... otherwise you have to send them a letter every 6 months or something saying your still married and having sex.... (i'm not kidding!)... teheheehehee

Hope you're having fun!

I love the family book. I cried when I saw it the first time.. it was a suprise we were running around all over the place anyways.

We had looked to his dad and mothers a few days before and I had said how great it was, I guess he was paying attention :)

His sister had a purple cow when she saw ours. She was shocked my husband did something without being asked.

Lisa how is life now ?? Having hubby here for a change .. im just curious ?

CONGRATULATIONS ALHAYATZWEEN :D

Lisa- I still don't get what a family book is?:blush:

Hehe! :P You of all the peeps here HLM would be the authority on Egypt family books if they exsisted...so no books for EGY! In Jordan for sure....

Olivia, citizenship that fast is great girly...since as stated above, if you go through the process here in the US, you have to wait 2 years and every 6 months the hubby has to send a letter stating you are still married and in "healthy" relations... We will wait to process all of us (babies too) while visiting Egypt. That's a long time from now...we are waiting to head back after his citizenship. :star:

Thanks again, everyone for the well-wishes... :star::star::star:

Yes, i think we are just going to hold on to all the documents we have now, get them translated, and do everything when we travel to Morocco and just bypass the consulate altogether. If anyone has King Mohamed VI's address, please pass it this way so i write a long letter about how the Consulate in NYC is... well... less than efficient. <_<

Sorry, Y'Hbibtik if i hijacked your poll!!

But yeah, i'm really concerned about the Family Book thing!

Congrats! I'm not sure if they have this in Egypt and my husband is not here to ask. They have a family id that has everybody listed on it but not sure about a book.

I guess that would be the equivilent of the "book" in other countries.

i hope to get the family book.

but we have had NO LUCK even registering our marriage at the consulate. they told us we had "to take" the papers to Morocco to get our marriage registered or whatever.

and we DO have a baby coming.... :luv::unsure:

every time i think about it, it gets me sad. We've been married for 2 years now, and still can't get our marriage recognized properly in the KoM.

i hate very few things, but i hate the Moroccan Consulate.

Congratulations :luv:

Yes, this id is a card that he carried in his wallet. When it is scanned they can tell the names of his children and wife.

I also saw the family book when I went to Morocco. It was a small grayish book, handwritten with all the family members in it from dad to mom to all brothers/sisters and half siblings as well. Farid's mother guards it with her life. Farid used it to get all his docs.

Hahaah

Ok I know that was not the answer to the poll question but I thought I'd put my two cents worth into this post.
