Neo-Citrin= What is the "American Equivalent"?

Hi Everyone (especially to all you fellow Canucks),

Ok, my husband now has a sore throat and cough, and (besides honey and hot water, and some cough drops) all I can think of for him is:

-Neo Citrin

(you know, the lemon flavoured hot drink, that had the big St.Bernard dog commericals on tv about it)

"What is that?", my husband asks...(while coughing)

"Oh gee, I must be thinking in 'Canadian' again and you don't understand what I'm saying here...sorry...", I answer back...

And I still don't know what this product is in 'American'!..... :wacko:

So do any of you Canucks know what the "Neo Citirin American Equivalent" is?

As well, are there any other 'American' over-the-counter products and/or home remedies we should try too (before it ends up getting worse and we have to go to the doctor for this)?

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. would be greatly apprecaited by both me (Ant) and my husband (D). Thanks

Neo citron! Love that stuff. My mom always brings some when she comes to visit me :) From what I've heard from fellow Canadians, Thera-flu is definitely the "next best thing" in regards to cough stuff. That Zicam stuff works great too (only if you're just starting the symptoms).

Hope he feels better soon! :)

Thera-flu is definitely the "next best thing"

I wanted to cast my vote for Thera-Flu too, but sadly it's not nearly as good (potent) as Neo-Citran :(

I also wanted to say to Moosker ... I'm not sure who you are in your photo, but do you realize that one of you looks exactly like Sylar from Heroes!!?!??!

None of these cold/flu "remedies" are worth a lick. They're all a waste of money.

Want to prevent illness?

Frequent hand washing, sneeze away from others, stay home and avoid work/school when ill.

Already have a Cold or Flu?

Get Rest and plenty of fluids - tea, broths and soups, apple juice.

If needed, take Tylenol or an ibuprofin (Advil, etc.) to lower fever and for aches/pains.

I try to avoid it since a low grade fever is the body's natural response to kill infection. Why reduce the effectiveness of your body's own defense mechanisms?

Obviously, if a more serious infection is feared, or you are running a high grade fever, or if young children or elderly people are involved, it's worth visiting a doctor and considering antibiotics or other appropriate treatments.
