Oh No!

After double checking everything before we filed, I got my NOA1 back today with my fiance's name spelled wrong! I am having my lawyer (really a friend who offered to help) write a letter with the correction, but do you think I should also call the Customer Service number? Also, maybe I am just being paranoid, but do you think they will be suspicious that I don't actually know him that well because it was his name that was misspelled (even though it was not my fault)?

Thanks for any advice, I am new here...

I am trying to sort this out. Your friend is a lawyer? And this friend/lawyer/person doesn't know a typo on the NOA1 means nothing?

The typo is inconsquential. The NOA1 is a receipt that they received you package. Nothing more. It is not a visa, a petition, nothing but a receipt. When you have an approved petition, your fiance will fill out a visa application at the consulate, this is what will determine the name on the visa that is issued. Nothing the USCIS does will reflect on the name on the visa, the approved petition is the paper YOU submitted. Did YOU misspell the name on the I-129f? I am trying to understand if that is what you mean by "not know him well enough" because YOU mis-spelled the name on the petition? If so, it is a typo error that can be corrected at the interview. No they will not judge your case because you mis-spelled his name.

For what it is worth, there is a typo on the AOS welcome letter which says to "cary" your green card everywhere. In direct defiance of this government order, my wife chooses to "carry" her card everywhere. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

Non issue. Do not waste a phone call or stamp. Neither would have any effect anyway

call USCIS and get that fixed, it's probably faster then writing a letter...

Calling or typing a letter isn't going to do any good. I missed a letter in my fiancee's name. I called them and sent a letter not long after I recieved by NOA1. When I got my NOA2 I also got a letter from VSC stating that they no longer had my case and that it was forwarded to NVC. No change was made to her name. It's not a big deal. Just fix it at the embassy stage when your fiance goes for the interview.

11-24-08 sent i-129 (VSC)

So on the noa1, if the typo is a different month, say April 14, 2009 for the received date but the actually received date was May 14, 2009. Would we need to worry about anything?

no...

YMMV
