Well, my husband and 2 1/2 yr old son went to Morocco today - but they almost missed out. Last night when we were sorting out the papers that he needed to take with we realized that we had lost the green card extension letter (he had a 2 yr card that expired in November but was renewed for a year). Soo I frantically called USCIS this morning as soon as they opened to find out that yes he does need that letter to travel and come back. Luckily we live in Washington DC so we didn't have to go far for an Infopass. This was at 8:30am, his flight was leaving at 4:30pm. We got an Infopass for 10:45 am, got lost on the way there finalyl got in to find this huge line with one guy working it. The "reception" area dude was not weeding people out of the line to pass on, he was answering questions - it took like 20 minutes to get through two people. Finally he left and a new girl came and was much faster. We got up and explained what had happened and she sent us through to the case officers. Within 5 mintues we were at a window. The guy put my husband's info in and said "well it looks like USCIS approved your 10 year card 2 days ago - congratulations!" Then he stamped my husband's passport with the I-551 stamp, good until the end of July and said "congratulations and have a safe trip!"

So in the end our little drama had a great result and now we can expect the card in the mail any day - with no interview!

0mg! What a suprise for you. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Amanda - that is wonderful! My DH forgot his ext. letter 2 years ago when I was in Argentina and he came due to my medical emergency. The employees at Aerolineas Argentinas wouldn't let him on the plane and I had to come home by myself. As soon as I got home I fedexed the paper and he came not too long after - but girl, it was DRAMA!!!
