i have so far this year, planted 12 trees...planted 3 pears and 3 apples at the house next door we own...some pines...

and in our yard 3 yellowish pines...a couple of rose tress this week-end added

I really miss the Maple trees we had in our yard growing up in Quebec. My dad used to tap them and we would drink the liquid right from the little plastic bucket (after we scooped out the little flies of course) And the Cabane A Sucre we used to go to- there is no better smell that the smell of Maple sap being boiled up. It would get poured over our snow filled buckets and turn to delicious taffy. Yum!

I would love to plant some more trees - I want a sassafras on our property now - but we are kind of spaced out for trees. Over the years she have planted a water birch which is thriving, a mimosa which is thriving, an apple tree which is blooming, two pear trees, a sweetgum, 3 butterfly bushes, 4 redtips, (all of which are doing well) and a fig. The fig is the only one not doing as well as we would like. We've also pulled up all the kudzu that was threatening to destroy two pin oaks and a number of pine trees at the top of the property. Today, we mulch!

Thinking of cutting down some tall ash trees so my maples can grow. Concern about that Chinese bug brought in that already is in the state killing thousands of ash trees, maybe that bug will beat me to it.
