What is a "Touch"?

I keep noticing people writing that their petitions have been "touched". What exactly does that mean? How can I know? I received my first NOA for my I-129F on Jan 30 2009. Should it have been "touched" by now???

K-1 TIMELINE

* MAILED K-1 PETITION 28 JAN 09

*RECEIVED NOA 1 6 FEB 2009

*RECEIVED NOA 2 6 JULY 2009

*RECEIVED PKT 3 18 JULY 09

*INTERVIEW AT EMBASSY 17 AUG 2009

*VISA APPROVED!! 18 AUG 2009

*TRAVEL TO U.S. 05 OCT 2009

*MARRIAGE!!! 07 OCT 2009

AOS TIMELINE

*MAILED I-485, I-131, EAD PACKAGE - JAN 4 2010

Touch means when the papers have been 'touched' online if you check your paperwork updated (although i dont recommend it now because the system is not opportating correctly and many numbers are not in there) the date will change, for example, if you sent the paperwork January 1st and you ge the NOA1 on January 20th, and you check online and the date will say 'NOA1 sent January 20th or w/e' but if you check it periodically the date maychange, the date changes everytime your papers are handled or processed a bit more, so it may change to Febuary 13th, or w/e, do you understand????

I-129F NOA1 : April 5, 2008

I-129F NOA2 : April 28, 2008

NVC Left : Aug.18, 2008

Packet 3 Received: Sept. 3, 2008

Interview Date : Dec. 18, 2008

APPROVED!!!!

Dec. 19, 2008- Alfredo comes home!

Jan. 5, 2009: Alfredo and I become husband and Wife

March 10, 2009 AOS paperwork sent, will wait for it to arrive via tracking #

March 12, 2009 AOS paperwork arrives in Chicago

March 23, 2009 NOA1 for I-485, I-131, I-765

March 30, 2009-Biometrics letter received, appt date April 10th @11am philly office

April 10, 2009-Biometrics appt. done, in and out in 15 minutes

Nov. 18, 2009-Card production ordered

The online status is really bad, i advise you to never rely on it, if your noa 1 is january 30, maybe your noa 2 is in snail mail, and its already being mailed to you, or will be soon, my case is already at the embassy and going to get a intreview soon, and online it still says pending, i never got a touch or anything

Known each other since we were kids ! =]

08/24/08-Engaged

01/10/2009- Sent

01/12/2009-NOA1

03/17/09- NOA2

03/25/09- NVC recieved

3/26/09- Forwarded to New Delhi Embassy

4/6/09- Packet 3 sent

4/8/09- Sent packet 3 to embassy

4/13/09-Embassy Sent packet 4

4/20/09- Recieved packet 4

4/25/09- Medical - passed =]

5/04-09- Gave paperwork to VFS

5/14/09- Intreview

Approved!!!!!!!!!!

5/26/09- POE at SFO

It does take time sometimes to update the online status, however it IS reliable, and i would watch it. Its a good resource to your process and how things are going.

been dating since june 1st 2007

dec-08 -officially engaged,i went back to France to apply for k1

2-11-09:noa1

3-06-09:My angel is visiting me

3-16-09:my angel is going back to the states

6-06-09: received NOA 2 HARDCOPY!!!!! ( notice date:-05-29-09)

Hi,

After getting NOA1 with reciept number, you can create account online on USCIS site by registering. The last updated means that "TOUCH". They also will send you email if your case has something new or you get NOA2. In my opinion, it works well because I got NOA2 on the date they send me email. You can try to do this and you will receive this suprised NOA2 some day.
