Hi Craig2006,

Congratulations on your wife's recent VSC I-751 approval!

Onto the next stage of citizenship for you!

Ant (Still waiting for I-751, Still waiting for Baby...)

P.S. Congratulations too, on your new baby girl! What a co-incidence that it took 9 months for your baby, and at the same time it took 9 months to wait for your wife's new green card. Nevertheless, glad that both came for your family at almost the same time, and now that your wife has her new card, she can focus on the baby instead! I wonder though, did your wife ever have any stresses and/or difficulties while waiting for her card and being pregnant at the same time? (believe me, I understand this "double waiting" situation here). As well, did you notify the USCIS about your wife's pregancy when you submitted the I-751 application or after that?

My wife received her 10 year card in the mail today, which expires 4/1/2019, from CSC. Now it is on to Citizenship and we will be done.

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting. Hopefully all your approvals come quickly.

Ant -

Never even thought of telling USCIS that my wife was pregnant. We submitted the I-751 a few weeks before we found out she was pregnant and we have never notified USCIS. Is that something that has to be done? Or is just additional evidence of our marriage? Now that she has her card, I am not really to worried about it.

I think I was more stressed about the card than she was. She has mostly focused on the baby while I worried about her getting her card. We were just afaid they would call us in for an interview the same time the baby was due. I am just glad that we got through everything without an interview (AOS and Removing Conditions).

Hopefully you get your card soon and congrats on the future arrival of your baby. And thanks to everyone for the congrats.

Craig

We never told the USCIS when I got pregnant...we filed before I was pregnant and then had a baby boy before I got approved..we thought that we would send the birth certificate in case we got an RFE but we didn't,thank God...the whole I751 journey lasted 13 months and 15 days for us...received the card on April 6th...good luck with your "double waiting" and don't stress!!!

Hi Craig2006,

Thanks for your reply and your congrats and well-wishes. Again, congrats on you and your family for the new baby and for the new green card.

I'm not sure if informing the USCIS about a pregnancy is manditory after an application has been sent in, as it doesn't specifically mention such. As you said, they mainly want to see the evidence about your marriage, which you did send in before, so just sending that in at that time was probably sufficient already. And now that your wife has her new green card, you don't have to worry about that addtional pregnancy evidence anymore either.

It's funny how you were more stressed out about the green card than your wife was. But then again, maybe that's a good thing, as your wife can focus on the baby instead and not have to worry about stuff like this. Lol...In my situation, I'm just as stressed out about the green card as the pregnancy, and my husband is the one that has to calm me down and tell me not to worry about all of this. And yes, I did (and I still do) worry about getting an interview later on in the pregnancy and/or when the baby is almost due. Believe me, the thought of going into labour at a USCIS non-local office is not a good idea...Glad though that everything worked out well for you and you got approved without an interview for both the AOS and ROC (lucky you!).

Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too. And yes, do have copies of your daughter's birth certificate for when you have to submit it for the N-400/US citizenship process.
