hello to all. i just received an rfe stating that the i-693 was not completed. my so arrived on a k1 and had her medical in china july 2008. we had dr. arnold to fill out pages 1,3 and 5 of the i-693 transferring the vaccination info as per the 693 instructions and put in the sealed envelope. my question is: do i have any options other than to have a new medical exam so that the 693 can be completely filled out? i phoned the uscis and was told that i could write a letter explaining the problem and fax it to them. has anyone else tried this and what was the result? i'm just trying to see if i can solve this without a new exam. i have to act quickly as they only gave me 30 days to answer the rfe. any help is appreciated.

Was it about a lacking immunization? Or a TB Skin Test? I had my Medical Exam last June 2008 and there's a new guideline for those who had their Medical after June 1, 2008.

I presume your doctor was an approved physician on the USCIS list. I would call their office and see if they have an update for the shots needed. Hopefully, that is all it is and a shot will take care of it. If not, try and search online for the most recent shot requirements. Good luck.

yes, dr. arnold is an approved uscis civil surgeon. all vaccinations were complete. the issue at hand is that the uscis adjudcator is requesting a 693 completely filled out which is in contradiction to the 693 instructions and would require a new medical exam.

If you have done everything right like the link I gave you before.

Then USCIS have lost I-693. You can ask from Dr. Arnold's office

to give you another one with no cost. They have the copy of your record.

Hopefully just the paper work. No Exams Required !....

thanks for the reply. the rfe states that the 693 i submitted was incomplete. i checked my copy and the vaccination section is complete along with all signatures. they must have lost the medical exam from china. this sucks!

My medical is also partially filled, as I had the exam for K-3 back in my country. But when I went to the doctor's office to get the I-693 filled, I brought with me my original copies of the blood tests and my chest x-ray. The doctor made photocopies and gave them to me, and put the originals in the packet.

I have no idea if this is going to pass or not. Your post has certainly made me concerned!

we had the medical done in china and the medical folks would not give us a copy of the exam and stated the consulate does not allow this. i think i'm screwed.

We got an RFE a few weeks ago for the same thing. They must have lost the medical. We did the entire medical again.

wow, this really sucks! i'm going to try and find out if our medical was lost or perhaps the uscis adjucator cant follow the 693 instructions.

Unless you want to just pay for a whole new exam, I would write a letter to them explaining that the I-693 was completed by a civil surgeon per I-693 instructions. Explain that your overseas exam was less than 1 year old at the time you applied. I would even print and include a copy of the 693 instruction page and highlight the part that says "...include pages 1,3,5 ONLY...").

It may be that your overseas exam did not include the TB test which started in May 2008. This could be what they want.
