After knowing Anna Marie for nearly five years, an annulment case that dragged on for more than four them, today I sent out the I-129F petition to the California Service Center. My finance' name is Anna Marie from the Cagayan De Oro part of the Philippines. We met each other in May of 2004 and only started the I-129F petition TODAY.

Although she was estranged from her husband for many years, in November of 2004, we began the annulment process. It wasn't long before we found out that it wasn't going to be easy. In a short version of the annulment case included starting and nearly finishing the case with one judge that was removed from the bench being charged with rape. After a long wait to get yet another judge in, the trial started over once again. With the same testimony and witness'. But before that judge could make a decision he died while on the bench and the case was left in legal limbo once again. We waited nearly another 6-8 months to get yet another judge in the court to be able to start and go through the entire case for a THIRD TIME. After nearly four years since the case was started, it was all passed over to the judge for the decision. Anna Marie and I just got word on the Feb 16, 2009, that the case was decided in our favor and it was finally over.

So, after four years and four months she was finally free to marry. And today I stood in line at the post office with tears nearly running down my face and I sent out the I-129F, which I have been preparing for nearly FIVE years, to finally start the petition.

The real question we asked ourselves through this whole experience was this... Was it or is it worth it? and the answer that came back every time was a resounding YES. I would hope this would be an encouragement to anyone else that maybe going through an annulment right now hang in there it will happen. For Anna and I, it took over four years. But we have the rest of our lives together because of it.

We will keep you up dated on what is going on.

Goodluck on your application :)

The wait for the while K-1 visa process is usually between 6 and 8 months - that's going to be nothing compared to what you two have been through!

But obviously each day you spend apart from each is other is like life without meaning....

Just log-on to this website everyday and it will definitely help you get through (I learned so much as well!) :)

Interesting Story, and Congrats on the good news.

When I meet my fiance she still had almost 2 years of school to complete before getting her degree, so I decided to wait and let her complete her studies.

Hard choice at the time, but as most people say after they marry a Filipina. It was the best decision they every made in their life, and I will concur.

Hope you a easy Visa Journey the rest of the way...
