Consulate Review: Singapore
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 9, 2008
Embassy Review : All over it was an overwhelming experience! Arrive at the consulate 10 minutes for the appointment time. Line up, check the passport and ID then enter at the consulate. Got my number and before I could sit down my number flash right away. A Chinese Singaporean was my pre-screener. She was not smiling afterall but anyway, she's nice, she got all my documents excluding the CENOMAR. She check my annulment papers and everytime she ask me question and I answered she take down notes. She ask me to sit down until I will be called again. Then I saw my papers infront of the American consul. He read my Fiance postal mail seriously then check my other documents then got stuck up on my annullment papers again. He talk to my pre-screener and scanned my papers again and again. They were not convinced with my supporting eveidence and start opening the Marriage of indices system. He called my name and ask me questions like:
1. When did you met your fiance?
2. Where did you meet in person and when?
3. Were you married before?
4. How many children does he have?
5. Is he divorced or single?
6. What is his job?
Then he told me that that they are aware of the fraud and crooks in the Phils and wanted to be sure that my annulment papers were genuine. He said i have oath that I will tell the truth to them and its better for me to say it now before they will find out something. He ask me if it was OK for me if they will check again at the NSO wether it was registered as nulled and void. So i told them looking at him straight into the eyes, yes there is no problem sir! He ask me to sit down again while they are still waiting for the processing of the database. I waited again for 30 minutes then the pre-screener called me again. She said since my HK police cert. doesn't arrive yet, if I wanted to get my passport or i would leave it to them then they will call me when the visa is ready. So I leave my passport to them. I made sure that I am really approve so I ask the lasy, So am I approve? She said YES! I was so relieve that i was and that everything is OK. Now i have to wait for two more weeks before I get my visa. Over all I find the second interviewer really very rude though I understand why they scrutinize my annulment papers.

But I am happy now that I GOT APPROVED!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
