PORT ST. LUCIE — After Dylan Ray Morrison made noise with a spring and disrupted class at Port St. Lucie High School, the teacher took the spring as “contraband.”

Morrison, 18, got upset and swiped a glass red apple from the teacher’s desk, refusing to give it back unless the small spring was returned.

So began a Tuesday morning incident that landed Morrison in jail on misdemeanor charges of disruption of a school function and petty theft, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.

The teacher summoned the dean of students, Robert Beasley, after Morrison, of the 600 block of Northwest Kilpatrick Avenue, wouldn’t give up the glass apple, which the affidavit states was valued at about $10.

“Dean Beasley arrived at the classroom, explained the incident to Dylan, and asked for the apple to be returned,” the affidavit states. “After three requests, Dylan still refused to return the property, so law enforcement was notified.”

A police officer and a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputy went to room 427, and Morrison refused the officer’s request to return the property. The officer outlined the “severity of the incident,” noting the criminal charges he could face.

“So, what, I’m not leaving without my spring,” Morrison is quoted in the affidavit as saying.

Morrison then was taken into custody.

Class reportedly was disrupted for about 15 minutes, and Morrison wouldn’t give up the apple.

“By taking the apple without permission, he was intentionally depriving the owner of their property,” the affidavit states. “By willingly initiating this disturbance during class, he inhibited approximately twenty students from learning the material for the day.”

Morrison was released Wednesday from the St. Lucie County Jail on $500 bail, a jail official said.

I wonder if he was First Nation?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
