i thought if your tax returns are over the level and you show them three years and w-2's then you don't need bank statements and things like that..

Rich, it is Embassy specific, however, normally 1 year tax return is enough (or that was my understanding) assuming you are over the poverty line... Since I am poor (which is why I am not allowed to be an Uncle) I have to do more :)

Wow, you guys are so prepared!

i thought if your tax returns are over the level and you show them three years and w-2's then you don't need bank statements and things like that..

I think it varies by consulate, e.g. Naples only requires 1 year, but I will probably provide 3. Since I've lost my job twice in less than 13 months it might look odd (but tax returns will show income for last 3 years is above the required). But, I have a lot in savings, so hoping to use that to bolster, although since it's an online bank will not give me a letter, so may just submit statements. Also, current job is a contract position (not full-time yet), so am a little nervous.

I am over the poverty line and the embassy in Moscow requires the bank letter, pay stubs and the last years tax records. At least thats the way I understand it.

Don't be nervous... be prepared... and even over prepared... but most of the time, the interview is a breeze.... all things being equal... but still go prepared since we don't want to have to wait even longer. I was told by the US Embassy in Warsaw... "They want to give the K1 visas"

I'm not sure where I read what the specifics are....I know for the consulate in Amsterdam Pat needs just one years tax returns, paystubs and w-2s. No bank letter or anything for us.

if you make more than about 25k a year you are good to go. No need to sweat anything else. As far as paperwork goes. I have my stuff filed and making a copy will take no time. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

Vespa-The requirements are listed on the embassy website. Although the people in the Russian forum helped me out as well. You may want to try the Italy forum I am sure the people there would know for sure.

Rich-The bank letter is just a letter from the bank that states when you opened your account, how much you deposited in the past year and what your current balance is.

Minimule congrats once again. I hope all is well with you.
