Hi,

After getting my fiance's info in the mail today so I can finish assembling my 129f package I've realised I've got a bit of a problem with his passport photos...

The instructions in the guide on this site say 2inch by 2inch (51mm x51mm) and the photos he has sent are barely inch and a half by a little under 2 inches - and these were supposedly done by a photo shop that does passport photos in Australia.

Should I risk sending these in or have him get new ones made and sent over? Any opinions?

I'm not happy about delaying sending it in still longer, but I don't want to send in something that will get bogged down because of a photo size issue.

Something to keep in mind - US Passport Photo standards are different (or can be) from other nation's standards - when getting passport photos made, you must get them to US standards otherwise you'll likely get the wrong size.

It seems I've typed this answer in the last couple days. Does anybody use the search function anymore?

USCIS is quite lax on the beneficiary's passport photos submitted with the petition. So lax, you can actually do without them. You'll need the correct format and size for the visa interview.

Im from Australia and when I went to the photo shop for a passport picture he asked, "its not for a visa is it?" and I said it was for a visa in the US. Luckily he asked me this because he mentioned that the US had different measurement requirements so he took the passport picture 2 x 2 inches. He also mentioned that he had a few people come back to him to have it redone due to the US visa requirements...Your SO should have their pic taken again to save you from receiving an RFE.

Ok, no offense meant, but while you are correct that there are petitions that have been approved with different size (or possibly even no photo), I think this is bad advice. The adjudication process is done by individuals who do not all make the same decision as other adjudicators. There have also been RFE's based on incorrectly sized photos. It is a risk to submit this and it is a choice for the petitioner to make. I would get the right pictures FedEx'd or emailed and then printed out. A couple of days to correct is better than a couple weeks to deal with an RFE. Again, it could be ok either way and is a personal choice and acceptance of risk.

Thank you for all the replies, I appreciate every single one of them.

I guess I'll do it the 'better safe than sorry' route..

After all this time spent already, what's another week or so , right? B)

LOL, because my photos I brought home from the trip were matte finished, and the instructions say 'glossy'. Based on some other responses, including one person submitting Philippine passport photos{blue background!}, I went ahead and took the chance and submitted it anyway.

IF I get RFE'd on this....I made the choice and have no one to blame but myself.

Moving on w/life
