Actually no. They sent a letter to me saying they had problems with some things and wanted to do a full audit of my taxes for the past 3 years. In the letter they put in who to contact to set up an appointment time and what is needed. Partially in their defense they did lower what I owed them after the audit and stopped the penalties from the day I had the appt. I even remembered several times being told after I asked them to reduce the penalties and interest that, "They could not due so as the Congress sets the penalties and interest and by law they had to follow them." I asked for a appeal and two days later they had garnished everything pending the appeal. I went right away and signed their letter stating I would pay and when and the garnishment was lifted after additional penalty was added.

The IRS did not care for my excuse either thought my accountant screwed up. I still remember my fight with them and when I gave up after they garnished my bank account and wages. They did give me what they thought was a decent allowance to live on.

But it was your responsibility. Oh well.

Seems like you were a candidate for those ads on TV that claim that they can take those 100K IRS debts and turn them in 1K.

WASHINGTON - Nancy Killefer has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.

"She has withdrawn and we accepted her withdrawal," a White House spokesman told reporters. The spokesman declined to comment on the reasons and said more information would come later.

The 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co. was expected to detail her reason for pulling out later Tuesday.

When her selection was announced by President Barack Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a more than $900 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.

Since then, administration officials have refused to answer questions about the lien, which she resolved five months after the lien was filed.

Two other Obama nominees have run into tax problems during their confirmation processes.

Timothy Geithner was sworn in as Treasury secretary in January, after winning confirmation despite personal tax lapses that turned more than a third of the Senate against him.

Former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle, Obama's nominee to oversea the Health and Human Services Department, is still being considered by the Senate, despite problems with back taxes and potential conflicts of interest.
