Thanks Joe. I notice in your signature that you are getting an RFE on your AOS; does it ever stop for you? I hope that it's only something minor that you can quickly correct.

Hello everyone,

I know this has probably been asked a million times, I tried to find the answer in this forum, but I was not able to. My wife has a interview at the embassy soon, and according to the instrucions from the embassy, they require you to sumbit a DS-2100 and DS-230. Is this just for K-1 applicants? The way I am interpeting the instuctions is that once DS-2100 and DS-230 is sent the embassy will schedule the interview after..

"APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING: When you have completed the previous steps, the Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit will send you a formal Visa Appointment Package and interview letter. We schedule appointments as they become available. Generally, appointments are scheduled within two months."

But we already have an interview date. Any input provided will the much appreciated thanks!

Yes, you are reading the instructions for K visas, which is the reason why they have to submit these two forms to the embassy before they have an appointment date.

CR/IR visas are completely different because you already sent not only form DS-230 to the NVC, but every single civil document as well before they make an appointment with the embassy. So you're good.

Diana

Hey everyone again, Im still stuck in TSC hell...transfer was supposed to speed up processing, HA! 7 months since my NOA1 and no approval. Anyways, another question for Diana...is the Carta Migratorio needed for my wifes NVC packet or just Pasado Judicial? Its pretty cool that DAS now allows you to get the Pasado Judicial from the internet for FREE! Are they both also needed for her interview? Thanks for your help Diana, I appreciate it!

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

Keep the faith, everything works out for the very best

Hey there,

You only need to send the Pasado Judicial to the NVC with the DS-230 form. The Carta Migratoria is only for your wife to take to the embassy the day of her interview. The DAS will give it to her in a sealed envelope and the only people who can open it is the embassy, so tell her not to open it or she'll have to get another one.
