Visa in hand! (wow that was REALLY fast!)

Domesa delivered the visa to our address (in Bogota) today! It only took 3 days from the interview to deliver, not sure if its because it is the new year so they were able to process it fast or what! Regardless we are happy and are starting to look for flights to take!

CONGRATS- make sure not to open the sealed envelope portion!

Back in the day we needed translations because the DOS' page requested them. They no longer need them as long as the documents submitted are in either English or the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

Translation Requirements

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations.

Hello everyone...

We're going to apply for her SSN tomorrow. We only have one question about the application: As a K-1, does she check 'Legal Alien Eligible to Work' or 'Legal Alien NOT Eligible to Work' (or 'Other')?

It's been 10 working days since her POE, so I hope she's in the SAVE database already.

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Thanks, that's what we were thinking too but didn't want to fill out the form again..

So now, it's off to the Soc. Sec. office, then to the courthouse to get the marriage license. They ask for a SSN, but I think that only applies to citizens/residents. Disney World is in this county and I know foreign nationals without SSNs get married here/there all the time so I don't think that'll be a problem.

Everything went well yesterday but I can think of one potential hiccup...

At the Soc Sec office, they told us that they had to, by law, enter her name as it appeared on the I-94 Departure record. No problem with that, especially since the SS card is likely to change in the next few weeks. But... when we were on the plane, we only filled out the Arrival Record part of the I-94 because I've never dealt with one before and reasoned that there would be no departure until after she was an LPR so we wouldn't need to fill out the bottom half. Anyhow, the immigration agent added her name to the Departure Record but only her first name and first apellido. The Arrival Record has her full name and now I'm wondering if this will be a mismatch in the SAVE database when they go to verify it.

I'm just hoping that it doesn't cause a delay. It should be obvious that it's her, but we shall see...

Thank you everyone for all of your very kind words. I did write a review the link for which is posted below. I did not realize how long it was my apologies in advance.

Without getting into naming names, I am forever thankful to all who have helped us in this journey. I believe that if I can return even a small portion of that which you all so readily gave, I will be doing a great service to others who come after us.

Hello everyone,

I know this has probably been asked a million times, I tried to find the answer in this forum, but I was not able to. My wife has a interview at the embassy soon, and according to the instrucions from the embassy, they require you to sumbit a DS-2100 and DS-230. Is this just for K-1 applicants? The way I am interpeting the instuctions is that once DS-2100 and DS-230 is sent the embassy will schedule the interview after..

"APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING: When you have completed the previous steps, the Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit will send you a formal Visa Appointment Package and interview letter. We schedule appointments as they become available. Generally, appointments are scheduled within two months."

But we already have an interview date. Any input provided will the much appreciated thanks!
