Hey Joe, thanks for the wishes. I wish the same for the two of you. I just want to comment that Ken had recommended that I read the entire thread when I started my process in June. It took me a long while and I refused to go to the end until I had read everything in between. One of the things that encouraged me was the struggle that you went through. Granted it was over by time I was reading it but I did not want to read the end without the middle parts. I salute you. I hope that all is well Have a verry Happy New Year.

I have been pretty calm throughout this process and have had to on occasion encourage my fiancee and assure her that everything will be OK. I am now shamelessly letting everyone know that I am terrified. I leave for Bogota next week Thursday.

Carol and I spent New Years Eve with Troy and Alexandra...had a great time.

I filed for AOS on Nov. 3rd, so we're waiting for AP and EAD.

Good luck with Valeria's AOS process.

Happy New Year everyone.

My fiancee's POE was Sunday in Orlando and all went smoothly. It took about 25-30 minutes start to finish.

One question for you all - Did immigration keep the entire contents of the sealed envelope at your POE? I haven't been researching the AOS process too much yet, but I'm pretty sure we will need her birth certificate (and the translation at this stage) which they kept. I had thought we'd get it back at POE.

I guess we should start working on having her family get another copy (or three) of it to send up since we don't want any delays in filing AOS once we get married. Anything else that we should be aware of? We want to get anything else we could possibly need from Colombia in one shipment both to save her family too much inconvenience and to save the cost of shipping multiple envelopes.

Everyone goes through the moments of being terrified, so don't worry it is natural. Like I told my wife, just pretend like you are going to meet a friend and tell them about your relationship. LOL

ryna,

The embassy usually hands back most documents, including the beneficiary's birth certificate. If they kept it in the sealed envelope, then you will need to get another copy so you can file for AOS.

The only thing you should be aware of is having the I-94 with you because you will also need to send a copy of it with the AOS packet. If you didn't get one, then you can try going back to the airport to see if they can give you another one.
