I'm planning on sending mine in for some extra pages after my next trip (her POE trip.) I figure that's a good time as we won't be traveling outside the US for a few months (at least.)

And, best of luck tomorrow Kenny! Let us know how everything goes!

Everyone.. Today is POE..

One would think, today you would be happy.. We Are! but at the same time, there is a atmosphere of sadness, leaving everything & everyone she knows... overall, we are pretty excited.. Will POE in Miami this afternoon... Not sure how they will treat her, but I told her to expect the worst..

Wish us luck on our POE..

Godspeed, Kenny & Maritza.

As more couples leave for the US, others still have their interviews in Bogota. Let's send out our best wishes to Michael & Angelica who have their interview tomorrow (12/3). Good luck guys. Keep us informed of your progress.

So, finally, Maritza is on US Soil..

The POE Experience was fairly straight forward, They would not allow me to be with her for the interview, so I waited at the baggage claim.. It took about 45 minutes.. She was a bit frazzled, but overall, she's great about letting things roll off and not dwelling...

Also, our exit tax was interesting.. Apparently they dont charge exit tax to a Colombian Citizen leaving the Country to live outside Colombia.. So we actually got a refund on her portion of the Exit Tax that was pre-paid when we purchase the ticket..

I was very surprised...

Glad to hear everything went well.

And, I'm starting to believe they make up the rules on the exit tax on the spot. Maybe we'll get lucky too! Or we'll pay twice...

Well...

I just booked our first domestic, post-POE flight together so that we can visit some friends of mine out West. I used her current, Colombian name for the purchase. I just hope there's no problem even if she decides to take my name when we get married (which will occur before we make this trip.)

(The website warned me against booking with names being spelled incorrectly but I assumed that even if she does take my name when we marry, her travel docs (passport) will still have her maiden (Colombian) name so we'll be OK.)

The truth is, I'm not used to thinking about immigration related issues when I make my plans. I just hope I didn't make a mistake in buying our tickets now before she's even arrived, but I'm used to buying them early to keep costs down...
