I guess he will eat when he is ready. We offered food on our fingers, on different spoons, fingerfoods, organic crackers for babies, pasta, fruits, veggies, the only thing left is meat, which I will try tonight. Organic lean beef with potatos. If he doesn't eat it, I sure will! eat.gif

Oh I just came back from the mall, Gymboree has 30% off everything in the store, even off of on sale stuff. I bought 9 items for $25! Yeah!

Allie loves steamed carrots. I just put her on the table in front of her and she grabs it herself or the latest thing is to actually try to take it with her mouth off the table  .

Warm water on a washcloth and pass it over her eye a few times. Re-wet as necessary. :star:

Sofias slept again from 11pm 'til 5am and then back to sleep until 7am.

Nessa@ You won, my mom is giving me hope she says that things will get better now that the baby is almost 3 months old,

Is that true? do things change? do kids sleep better after the third month?? Now she is putting her hand in her mouth all the time, she looks so cute when she does that.

I'm going to the gym in a little while, my mom is staying with Sofia and then I will start bringing her to the baby sitting area wiht me, it's just 2.50 per hour and it doesn't hurt, hubby doesn't like the idea so much but I'm bringing her when there are not so many kids in the gym so i'm sure It will be safe.

@Anna: well I guess keep trying. Maybe he's a picky eater. I had to try certain foods or consistencies 15-20 times before Ben liked them. good luck with the meat&potatoes.

@Vi: yes it definitely gets better. And then they start teething...... haha. Enjoy it while it lasts. Ben slept great until 6 months and hasn't slept longer than 2 hours since (he is 13 months now). I am guessing I have a little but of tough luck regarding that. Zaid here who is the same age as Ben has slept 10 hour stretches since he was 2 months old. I believe sleep quality depends greatly on a baby's personality and individual needs.

The only advice I have is to try to establish a good routine, each night, so that she knows what to expect during the night.

Vi: It really does get better. LIke I said a couple of times before. Both my kids were grunters as night. They would fling arms and legs and grunt real loud, straining but not crying. they didn't even wake up. Adam did it from 2:30am - 9am until he had a HUGE blowout and then he slept normal, only for it to begin at 2:30am the next morning again...He did that EVERY SINGLE NIGHT until he hit 3 months. Week 12 came around and he just stopped. it was totally weird. Allie would grunt longer but also at night from around 3am on until about noon and then she slept again. As with Adam, she stopped at week 13 and it was just over. Just like that.

@ Vi - I am jealous that your gym has a babysitting service. Mine doesn't, and I wish it was easy for hubby and I to work out together.

Declan has been so adorable tonight. He is in a huggy and kissy mood and keeps coming up to me and giving me kisses.

Yesterday was funny. We were eating dinner and he was babbling away in his highchair. Just sounds really. Then I asked him if he liked the meatloaf his daddy made and he looked right at his dad and said, nah!

I am a new mom. I have some questions regarding my daughter's health and welfare.

My daughter is 3 1/2 months old.

Are you in favor of vaccinating baby? Please give me reasons.

When should I start giving my daughter cereal?

Congratulations on your babygirl. She is precious.

1st} I'm overall pro vaccinating but I decided to space it out with my daughter. She will be getting the majority of her shots after the first 12 months because I feel like she can handle it better when she is a little older. I have completely skipped Rotavirus and HepB because I just don't think that those are necessary. MMR she won't be getting until 24 months. If she gets any of these illnesses before her 2nd birthday then fine if not, she'l get vaccinated.

2nd: I'm a big believer of baby led weaning, meaning no cereal or solids until baby decides it's time. Cereal is not recommended so early on because it might lead to later allergies. I have posted a link a little further back that describes how babies gut matures. It is just not ready to digest anything else than formula or breastmilk so early on. The "bad" parts of the cereal might get into babies blood through those gaps in its gut and lead to alliergies, not right away, but later in life. Also, I don't think cereal is really necessary. It is just one of those things the 'baby industrie' pushes on mothers. If you really do want to feed baby stuff, you can make the cereal yourself or give baby some mushed up apple, pear, avocado etc. Your little one is most likely not ready to eat solids yet though so I'd stick with either more nursing or one more bottle. if she doesn't sleep through the night with that, she most likely wont do so with cereal in the bottle either.

Just my two cents.

Welcome Jewellyn! Your baby is adorable :)

Every parent has differing opinions and has to do what is right for them. Personally, I am in favor of vaccines because I feel that not having them is way more detrimental. About the cereal, I waited until my son was 6 months old before I started him.

Here's part of the article from Dr. Sears ( source www.askdrsears.com )

The intestines are the body's filtering system, screening out potentially harmful substances and letting in healthy nutrients. In the early months, this filtering system is immature. Between four and seven months a baby's intestinal lining goes through a developmental growth spurt called closure, meaning the intestinal lining becomes more selective about what to let through. To prevent potentially-allergenic foods from entering the bloodstream, the maturing intestines secrete IgA , a protein immunoglobulin that acts like a protective paint, coating the intestines and preventing the passage of harmful allergens. In the early months, infant IgA production is low (although there is lots of IgA in human milk), and it is easier for potentially-allergenic food molecules to enter the baby's system. Once food molecules are in the blood, the immune system may produce antibodies to that food, creating a food allergy . By six to seven months of age the intestines are more mature and able to filter out more of the offending allergens. This is why it's particularly important to delay solids if there is a family history of food allergy, and especially to delay the introduction of foods to which other family members are allergic.

Argh. I looked at the pictures and saw the blue curtain and I decided that I couldn't look at them. I saw that she was 7.12 though. Nice size for a babygirl. She is cute.
