more people are poor than are rich. and they'll vote according to their pocketbook. now fasten your seatbelt and let's enjoy the ride as we all go downhill.

Let's see what the exit polling data had to say. For each income category the winner is in red.

Your point being what? The Democrat's ticket won the top income bracket and quite comfortably so.

I love both die hard republicans and democrats, their leader can commit murder, but okay as long he is part of your party.

Would also be nice if the republicans can call the democrats war mongers again, and really tighten up on our huge military budget, but that money never went to the troops either, democrats were always more concerned about that. Republicans also have a bad reputation lately for aiding big business and Wall Street, believe that Clinton was also a republican. If they want a motto, have one for them, Return the USA back to the land of opportunity, for all.

Obama cared so much about our fighting troops that he went to Iraq twice and finally found Afghanistan during the campaign just for the photo ops of him playing basketball. The Democrats voting against body armor among other items was a real low point along with the moronic timetables for withdrawl which have since disappeared.

The GOP hasn't exactly won over Wall Street lately and most of wealthy went for Obama to buy a little more influence.

Your point being what? The Democrat's ticket won the top income bracket and quite comfortably so.

Remember when Democrats used to claim they were for the working guy? That was before they all bought foreign cars and laughed at the idea we needed blue collar jobs in polluting factories. They'll build solar panels and windmills instead and build roads a al 1930s New Deal. Wonder how long people are going to take Obama's plan as the unemployment rate rises?

The first to jump ship will be the middle class as the Obama novelty wears off and there's little economic improved after billions more disappear as Obama shrugs it off as negativism. That's all speculation but Obama doesn't have a hard core coalition himself and party loyalty is waning faster than stock market prices and home values. Clinton started crowing as well but lost Congress in 1996. Obama knows that the GOP could resurrect itself by 2010 if it doesn't placate the middle class.

What do you expect Charles? That the 'poor' are going to vote for a party that caters exclusively to the rich because keeping the rich rich is going to help them be less poor? I think they have rumbled you guys on that one :)

Yes, he won their vote, too. He won a comfortable majority and he did so not isolated in certain low income brackets. He has appeal across the spectrum. Well, compared to the GOP candidate, let's just say he has appeal. The GOP tries to focus their agenda on the upper middle class - and has done quite well dismantling it. Talk about hacking away at the foundation of your house. Not a good long term strategy. Not good strategery either. :hehe:

Quick, get a message to Obama, he is under the premise that the GOP is working the "Gun and religion Clinger" demographic.

Poor Obama could have had a landslide if he only listened to ......Big Dog.

The original article is ridiculous. The GOP isn't stupid they'll reinvent themselves to recreate a new coalition. Cmon now.

Precisely. That was my original point. The GOP is necessary for the political health of the US and there are plenty of conservatives who are totally at ease with the changes that have to happen.

Those aren't conservatives.

I don't think saying that he has appeals across all spectrums is right when he has such a slim margin among the middle class who is the majority of the population. That slim margin can be gone easily unless the middle class sees a big improvement in their standard of living. You can crow all you want about him winning the rich over but they are a tiny minority and to the middle class they mean nothing. The middle class are the ones the major parties have to court. The Socialists are going to get the poor income regardless. They could run Stalin and get the poor to vote for them.

It is all about the middle class here. The margins are slim as of now. Of course the Cons will go for them also and adjust their strategy and get some votes. I could care less really. Both these parties are the same essentially. They say the same things and do the same things. They have to because that is what the middle class wants.
