I have a question about the medical exam and my medical records.

I live in the US and i know i have to take a medical exam by a civil surgeon, the only problem is I have no medical records, I mean I have a doctor who has been my primary since i was a baby in London who has records but I don't know how to get in touch with her and how that is going to work? will she be able to send me a copy or email me a copy?

Plus i don't have a vaccination record, last time i was vaccinated was when i was in high school during those four years we had like 3-4 vaccinations done, and they never gave us any paper work for that? and my mom didn't keep track. how would i find this information? or who would have it? Is the vaccination record important? What happens if I don't have it?

Thanks for your help!

I dont know what visa you are applying for....

in my case i had to take a medical for my K1 interview, they give me a vaccination sheet.

once on the states i had to update my vaccination sheet only. they asked me to take the second shots for the vaccines i had the first time. that was it. Your medical history...... you dont need it in this step.

My late wife was in the same situation as you are in she only had records with her GP back in the UK. What she had to do was either have all the vaccinations again or have blood tests done to prove she had been vaccinated already.

She had the vaccinations done again as this was cheaper and faster to do than the blood work. She had all the vaccinations done at a local health clinic total cost $15.00 and they provided a vaccination record that we then took to the civil surgeon and he completed the medical and signed off on the vaccinations and gave us the medical forms in a sealed envelope to send to USCIS along with her application.

As for getting your medical records from the UK we were not able to get them, not even when my wife was dying from a brain tumour, even a Doctors request was denied all we could get was a basic letter saying that my wife did not have anything in her medical records that would be of assistance to the doctors here in the US. maybe you will have better luck then we did with getting the records transfered.

Thanks for the information, it's really helpful! Another question? LOL if you don't mind? How many vaccinations and what kind of vaccinations did your wife have to get? Sorry to hear about your wife, that must of been really stressful, they really didn't want to help, and that just doesn't cut it! I hope you and your wife are both doing better!

Thanks again for the info!!

for school vaccinations contact child health department (the one relevant to where you went to school), you need to give them some form of confirmation of who you are. i gave them the number on my eu health card. they were the onlyu ones with a complete vaccination record for me.

You do not need your medical records. Just find a CS (Civil Surgeon) in your area. Make sure to call all the ones in your area to get a price, prices vary from CS to CS. They will perform the medical examination on you.

The vaccination record is required by the CS in order to fill out your I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record). If your unable to find your vaccination records, the CS can provide the vaccinations, usually they charge extra for this. In our case we went to the county health department (ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA) and they provided the vaccinations free of charge (they also give us free flu shots). So you might want to call your county health department to find out if they provide this service.

Hope this helps, best of luck.

I had no vaccination records either. The panel physician's office told me what I needed to be immunized against, and I had an Antibody Titre blood test done. I have no idea how your medical system works in England, but there was no charge for it here in Ontario. Guess OHIP is still good for something.

Glad we could help.

One thing I notice. The county health dept. gave my wife TDAP and MMR vaccines and the CS was fine with those 2. But if your look at the "Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule for 2009 depending on your age, you might need more than 2.

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5753-Immunization.pdf

Look at page 2, figure 1 to determine which ones you need.

We missed the Varricella one, hope we dont get RFE.

Consult with your CS about which vaccines you need.

I think everything has to do with your age, and condition. In the case of my wife, she had her medical done here in the US (NY). The med exam was $ 180 total. And the only shot the doc gave her was tetnus (TD). She's 25 years old. No vacination record on hand to show the doctor here. Go to your medical, and don't worry.

I dont know how old you are but when I went to my doctors as when I had my jabs the information was not put on the computer records as they were not around then, they went through my medical records and could not find them, even though I have had all of them and so had to have them again, only bonus as I am over 26 no need for HPV thank god. So my reccomendation would be to just have them done again and save yourself the hassle of trying to get the confirmations that might not even be there
