Why the long wait before interview is scheduled

We are finally at NVC and hope to receive a case complete this month. In looking at Zee's tracker, it appears there is a big gap with the time from case complete to the date of the interview scheduled, sometimes as long as 6 months. But in reading other post from different forums they are able to get there interviews scheduled pretty quickly, within a couple months. Also just wondering if some of the people on Zee's tracker maybe just forget to submit updates and they have finished the process and we are not aware.

Bottom line I want a March interview, what do I need to do?

it is all based on supply and demand... Some consulates have an adequate supply of interview "slots" to meet the current demand. Other consualtes have a good sized "backlog" because there are more applicants than ability to interview

YMMV

Each consulate has different schedules and so some will schedule faster than others.

The wait in Ghana is not unusual, it has been like that for some time. I know that some have tried getting earlier dates (through contacting their congressperson, calling the embassy etc) but I have yet to hear of them rescheduling the interview for an earlier date.

If you are lucky you may get an earlier date.

Good luck :)

I really don't know. I have seen some complain about the wait time and use that as a justification but that has not worked.

I haven't seen anyone try to get an interview moved to an earlier date for a long time.

Is there some type of justification I need to provide to my congressperson?

Sorry about the wait...and as you will know in Ghana the wait is actually a three month or more wait time. In my unique case however according to the wait times for Ghana, my case was actually not too long of a wait in comparison to others waiting on consulates from Ghana. Maybe I had a great consulate who really took a likening for me because I used to email constantly asking on the status of my case and I told them I wanted an earlier date and surprising I did get it. Not to say it happens all the time but if you will read my story further I had quite a difficult time when I was interviewed so I guess that made up for my good luck streak I guess.

The only thing I can suggest is find a really urgent reason as to why you want an earlier date and email a consulate? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

okay, i've never seen that attached chart before, but what i've noticed from zee's tracking is that K1/K3 visas wait anywhere from 4-6 months for an interview, while the CR1/IR1 interviews seem to be scheduled within two months of their case completion at the NVC...which would be in keeping with other NVC cases. i am also hoping for a march interview! i was under the impression that the NVC schedules the date for the CR1/IR1 interviews, while the embassy itself schedules the K1 interviews. i don't know if that is correct since i did not look into a K1 visa, but if true it could explain the discrepancy.

It makes sense, to me at least, that the CR1/IR1 would have priority over K1 because those filing the CR1/IR1 are already married while K1 is "intending" to be married. I know when you're on the receiving end of the longer time it doesn't make sense but if you step back and look at it from the governments perspective it does.

I don't mean to be rude, but just because you are married it does not mean that you have more of a right to be reunited with your loved one than someone else. There are many factors that go into couples choosing a spousal visa vs a fiance(e) visa.

The difference in the interview scheduling times is because K visas (compare the scheduling times for K1 and K3 visas, they are almost the same) are scheduled by the embassy whereas the CR1 visa is scheduled by NVC.

I COMPLETELY understand your feelings Zee - it doesn't make heart sense at all. But look at our government and the laws - married couples get more tax advantages, are legally recognized, in most states you can legally sign documents for your spouse, in the event of a death - unless there is will - a fiance doesn't get a thing from the death, in the military if someone dies in the line of battle - their SPOUSE receives a flag not a fiance. The GOVERNMENT places higher priority on marriage. I don't know when the fiance visa was created but I am willing to bet that it was A LOT later than the spousal visa.
